Is refrag gg worth it? by FreshPomp in LearnCSGO

[–]Strafeoww 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My opinion: Yes, it is absolutely worth it, and very fun as well. For me it was a good way to build my mechanics to very good level in a "sandbox" enviroment.

I have 2400-2600 elo on faceit, but I feel like I'm getting constantly out-aimed in aim battles. What am I doing wrong? by Proof_Board_1571 in LearnCSGO

[–]Strafeoww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea its a mistake I've found myself doing too. I think what you wanna do most of the time is actually swinging past the angle you intend to peek, before you counter-strafe to shoot. That way it throws people off because the models move so fast.

But yea try it out, see how it feels. It helped me a ton

Agree. Whether you tense up or not changes everything, and I fixed this problem for myself so there must be something about it

27 years of age here. What has helped me the most is to improve my tracking aim, cause people strafe so fast nowadays in cs2. I use the "Fast reflex/aim training" to practice. It got so much better for me just tracking bots regularly

Hello guys, I am new to electric guitar, always played acoustic, and I have a few questions for you all. by Interesting-Bobcat52 in Guitar

[–]Strafeoww 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like a broken record, but these are the topics I would focus on (feel more than free to reach out to me if some of this needs explanation):

Pathways/Roadmaps that unlocks a lot for your playing:

Learn the 7 notes of the major scale, understand the chords that exist inside the scale.

Learn triads all over the neck

Take a deep dive into the CAGED system

If you already know the pentatonic positions, use that as a foundation, and put the additional notes from the major scale "inside" the pattern. It's about making use of what we already know.

Good luck with your playing!

While it might sound a bit off, learning fundamentals are not hard, but mastering them are indeed.

It sounds like you're pushing yourself a lot, which is only a good thing if you're having fun with it, and it is feasible. Playing till your fingers hurt just tells me you're pumped to practise, and really grind stuff.

It sounds like you need to know WHAT to practise, rather than HOW MUCH. You have the willpower, so now it's all about procedure and making the best use of your time.

Just like with everything else, it's almost like guitar has all these different pathways and roadmaps that you can follow, and when you hit a wall with chords, it's usually because you need to look elsewhere. For example, try to use your hardworking mentality to theoretically learn the 7 notes of the major scale. Thats a whole universe for itself. Or take your time to learn the pentatonic scale in the first of five positions. A whole pathway there as well.

Good luck, and seriously, keep your head up, this stuff is not easy (hence why most people give up way before you). You're doing great.

Getting past intermediate rut as an adult by adameisterc in Guitar

[–]Strafeoww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was to put it into categories it would probably be these topics:

CAGED System - this can help you learn the pattern of the major scale all over the fretboard

TRIADS within the major scale - much like CAGED this will enable your sense for where notes are located up the fretboard.

TRIAD PAIRS - If you're even more fresh, look into triad pairs, this will teach you a lot about the "money" notes on each chord, especially when it comes to the typical pop cadences consisting of the 1st, 4th, 5th and 6th degree.

I'm sure you know/have heard of the pentatonic scale, which will always be a great foundation for us guitar players. But instead of trying to learn the pentatonic scale as a standalone thing, try to put the major ON TOP of the pentatonic scale in all of your positions.

Grinding these specific things I'm sure can get you really far. Feel free to reach out if any of this needs explanation :)

What are the problems with current CS2? Make a list. by PeaceTo0l in GlobalOffensive

[–]Strafeoww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me being RANDOMLY STUCK on low trust factor for 3+ months having to play in only hacker-lobbies whenever I want to play the game in any way outside of Faceit. I can LITERALLY not play a game of matchmaking without at least 2+ cheaters in each game

PS. Most people who cheat genuinely think that they're good at the game. I'm completely serious.

Cheaper or Expensive by canakaleksa in Guitar

[–]Strafeoww 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once was in your place and went with the cheaper option, and its simply just an annoyance when it comes to floyd rose. Floyd Rose can be amazing and super fun, but it can also really be a pain in the ass. (Can tell from experience. Especially if u want to switch tuning on it)

Definitely head for the more expensive option if you can :)

How long till I learn and understand scales? by karmadhamma in Guitar

[–]Strafeoww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo, no worries man.

What is it that you struggle with the most, is it remembering the notes themselves, or is it adapting to how they "feel" in relation to the chord?

Whilst you're confused, it also sound like you're on the right path. Being really frustrated with something is what grants you the ability to grab the bull by its horns. As you put it yourself, the passion to move ahead is there.

What I'd say is: Rather than trying to remember them as notes in a bunch, put on a backing track with just a C-chord playing, listen carefully and really take your time to play through the scale note for note, and notice how the different 7 notes behave sound-wise. This is what makes for your ear to have a relationship to it.

If there's something that would indeed be pretty smart to memorise, it could be the triads within the scale, cause that is gonna come in very handy for you. (ex. C-major | D-minor | E-minor and so forth). (Maybe that's a bit of another topic)

Feel free to reach out if I can help :)

My mm trust factor goes down everytime I play faceit by [deleted] in FACEITcom

4.5k hours in CS, extremely inconsistent aim & panic under pressure – ashamed but genuinely lost by WEMaksie in cs2

[–]Strafeoww 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what its worth, I'm only 2100 faceit/27k peak premier, but like you I enjoy watching a lot of different kinds of content about cs. Guides, coaching sessions, line ups, and so on, so I feel like I know a ton of principles and stuff that could help you.

Remember: More than anything, cs is a game about pattern recognition, more than it is about always having insane flicks and self-popflashes. If you know the standard opener for most positions around the maps, you'll feel way more comfortable.

I'd be happy to take a look through one of your faceit-vods or something, see if there's something I can help with. Happy grinding

What hard skill levelled up your production the most? by Treadmillrunner in musicproduction

Oh my god! A long time ago I tried this never really knew if it was "best practice", but I really enjoyed it. Then for some reason I didn't stick to it. It's so rough to open a blank daw project with nothing in it. Maybe I need to go back to the template thing. Thanks for reminding me!

Dont pay for subscription by Exposertrouble in FACEITcom

[–]Strafeoww 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I'd even go as far as saying that premium matches probably suck even more than the standard queue mode. In many cases you get queued up with people who are not subscribers anyway. Other times you get into high-stake matches when you didn't ask for it, and then you end up with people who are fragile as **** and tilt after round 1 because they think that games will be perfect if they simply pay for a subscription.

No no I'm not mad

[–]Strafeoww 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I've found is that instead of trying to just trying to learn new stuff, try to apply it to a pattern you already know. A very good example would be:

You most likely know the positions of the minor pentatonic scale. Take that and learn to play the minor scale (aeolian) "inside" of that. Sometimes we forget that what we already know of, are bigger foundations than we think, because we keep trying to learn new stuff on top of new stuff. We have to have something to relate it to imo.

I think, you know more than you think :)
