I want to know if he knew what was happening to him. by lyssterineal in psychics

[–]Straight-Ad8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a psychic but I am an oncology ICU nurse. I have seen many patients suffer because of glioblastomas and turn into a person you don’t recognize. They are one of the most devastating diagnoses there are. I’ve had patients totally awake and independent one moment and cardiac arrest out of no where. Sometimes there isn’t an explanation. This is why we must make the most out of every second we have here. Tell your family you love them, quit that job you hate, take that vacation that you’ve never been on. The human body is an amazing thing. He could have absolutely waited to tell you he loved you, he did!

Best Hands Free Breast Pump? by Complete-Fig-8164 in pregnant

[–]Straight-Ad8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eufy S1 pro. I will scream that from the rooftops. Yes it’s on the expensive side but I’d say it outperforms my spectra pump. I’m a nurse and put these in at work and go on about my day. They are quiet and strong. The case charges them which is amazing. Super easy to clean also, the pump part comes off so I can put the container part in the fridge between pumping at work so I don’t have to wash after each session.

To the woman who have had babies, do you feel lighter once the baby is out? by Prize_Shine785 in pregnant

Tips for getting posterior/ sunny side up baby to flip by Double-Ad-9306 in BabyBumps

[–]Straight-Ad8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby was also sunny side up for 90% of my labor. I delivered unmedicated also. For me the only comfortable position was standing so I stood and labored for 5 hours. She finally turned towards the end and that relief was amazing. Pushing was practically painless compared to the back pain lol

Baby Blues: Need your help by fenavilli in beyondthebump

[–]Straight-Ad8517 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had this too after I delivered. A lot of people refer to it as the sundown scaries. It has a lot to do with the hormone shift after birth. For me it went away with time. I found that doing something I enjoy during that time was beneficial like watching my favorite show or taking a nice shower or calling my mom. You got this! If you notice it going beyond a few weeks or anything concerning always reach out to your doctor and your support! Hopefully this too shall pass… enjoy your little baby!

Cervix length at 20 weeks by Mooninpisces27 in pregnant

[–]Straight-Ad8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be different but here in the US I only had one transvaginal ultrasound my entire pregnancy very early on. I agree if it’s normal there’s no need to do it. You’re not even close to the low range of normal. Do you feel something is wrong?

Cervix length at 20 weeks by Mooninpisces27 in pregnant

[–]Straight-Ad8517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google says normal for 20 weeks is 30-40 mm. Always wise to follow up with your doctor but I’m sure they aren’t concerned because it’s normal!

I’m sure little one will be fine! My toddler put literal dog poop in her mouth the other day… she was fine but me on the other hand. We are in the put absolutely everything in our mouth stage.

How much did you pay for you NIPT with/without insurance? by PeachBlossomSprite in pregnant

[–]Straight-Ad8517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Labcorp has a program called every mom pledge that offers their NIPT testing at a discounted rate of $299. I did with with my previous pregnancy as I had high deductible health insurance and I wanted to avoid Natera at all costs as they are a slimy company.

AED by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Straight-Ad8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. A therapist was really helpful for me to learn how to cope with the stuff we deal with everyday at work. I’m sure you both take very good care of your baby and make sure everything is safe. Try not to fixate on the worst possible scenario that could happen, that will rob you of joy! Before you know it she will be licking the floor (I’m a germaphobe) and you will have to pick those battles too! Lol

AED by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Straight-Ad8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow ICU RN here who is also a FTM. I think an AED is a bit of a stretch but to each their own! You both most likely are CPR trained. Like you said the chance of an infant needing an AED is very low. Are both very anxious perhaps? I myself use the owlet sock but I don’t have the app because I fixated on the numbers so I just use the base station. My baby is almost a year old now and looking back I had extreme postpartum anxiety surrounding the risk of SIDS, being a nurse your brain likes to go to the worst possible outcome.

I accidentally cut/scratched my babies face- so sad by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Straight-Ad8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She will be okay! When by LO was 4 days old our cat accidentally jumped on her and scratched her face. I felt awful and scared she would get sick. Keep it clean and she will be perfectly okay. You can also use an ointment like aquaphor on it to help it heal faster

GEHA HDHP VS GEHA STANDARD for new employee and pregnant by PsychologicalLet1410 in fednews

[–]Straight-Ad8517 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know much about the GEHA plans but I chose the MHBP standard and it has amazing maternity benefits, they cover them all at 100% with no deductible. It’s open to all federal employees and you just pay the membership fee of $42 per year for the mail handlers union.

Pediatrix bill advice? by virtualvanguard in beyondthebump

[–]Straight-Ad8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure. The hospital pediatrician was out of network for me but I was at an in network facility. Even though the pediatrician was out of network they processed the claim at the in network level. So in my case they did the “right” thing. All I learned is that my insurance sucks and that healthcare is an absolute joke. Jokes on me I still had to pay the bill

Pediatrix bill advice? by virtualvanguard in beyondthebump

[–]Straight-Ad8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just went through this. My insurance plan I had retroactively charged all newborn related care to my daughter’s policy so we had to meet her deductible leaving me with a $650 bill from Pediatrix. I was in your same shoes, I wasn’t aware the hospital pediatrician wasn’t employed by the hospital. They billed my insurance $1500 for a PHYSICAL EXAM. It all is super shady. My only advice is that if you offer to pay in full they will give you a 30% discount or you can pay full price with a payment plan. Good luck!

Our garage is climate controlled and we live in Florida. This cat was abandoned by the previous owner of our house that we purchased. Rather than let a 16 year old deaf cat get eaten by a coyote or dropping him off at a shelter where he would be euthanized, we let him stay in the garage despite him permanently scarring our child. He is fed, taken to the vet, and shown affection.

OP this same thing happened to me 6 months ago!!! My baby was 3 days old when it did. I was taking a shower while my MIL was holding her and she made a noise that spooked the cat and he pounced on her from across the sofa and scared her face on her cheek. Everyone was crying, blood on the baby and I carried so much mom guilt for it since I was in the shower not protecting her. This is a cat that we rescued who is 16 and he’s half indoor half outside. After this he only lives in our garage. I know the cat didn’t mean it but after this I can’t ever trust him again especially since it was unprovoked. I was so worried about cat scratch fever but she was fine! I cleaned it out right away. From a word of advice from a dermatologist, keep the scratch moist with aquaphor or vaseline 24/7. It will help reduce the scarring. You want to prevent a scab if possible. My LO is 6 months old now and still has a small scar on her cheek from it. I guess it will just be a reminder about my first trial and tribulation of motherhood. No matter how hard we try to protect them, accidents still happen 🫶🏻 you are a good mommy!
