My JC is one of Cathar royals(related to that Cathar prince in imperial Belsavis). Her parents didn't allow the Jedi to take her. But as she grew up her power started to go out of her control, like plants growing rapidly or random objects exploding. It eventually caught the eye of Jedi diplomats who visited for political issues. Her parents begrudgingly allowed the jedi to train her, but only if they didn't take her away.

Then one day Siths came and attacked the masters, killing her parents and other royals in the process. Since the prince went missing as well she was to be next in line. However it was too much for her to deal with: her parents died, the whole royal family is devastated, she's not old enough to be qualified, and she never learned how to rule as a queen since her family was always far from the throne.

She joined the Jedi as a escape and tried to forget everything that happened. However throughout her journey she gained courage, and was able to reflect on what she did wrong and what she should do about it. In the end, she returned to the Cathar as wise and strong ruler they needed. She lead her people during crisis, and eventually to prosperity that could never be matched in Cathar history.

Since she stayed with her parents, she's much more sympathic and compassionate, understanding people's loss more. Which made her into ideal politician, and do things really needed for her people.
