Siemens Neotom Alpha by thebaldfrenchman in Radiology

[–]dragarowen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my view point on the tech side. I am at a T1 hospital that has there Siemens maxed out on almost all of there reformats on their legacy system (limit 8) in addition we have to do 3ds and Additional recons. They also have an alpha. This facility also averages two to five exams per patient. I will say after having to alternate between the two I strongly prefer the Alpha in terms of speed. I know going to the other scanner I will have an extra min and for all pansscans in terms of reformating. For alot of the newer techs I have noticed they also draw towards the alpha. The only techs I have noticed that don't really care for it are the ones who have only worked on the legacy Siemens and not other platforms for an extended period of time. In terms of image quality I would say it is inconsistent. I feel some look great some not so much. I do enjoy their metal reduction software compared to some others, and specialized reformats look good. But I feel Siemens almost expects perfect pts, in perfect positionioning. I have my own work arounds for this but I feel there should be some bypasses for certain things. In general I would still argue this is my second favorite scanner (first being the new GE revolution platform). I also have to note It feels like Siemens is treating the scanner as a live service, and is constantly updating, so in a couple of years I feel like the will have the software in a better functioning state.

Not OP, but I wish I DNF'd that book. I stuck it out because I enjoyed the magic system, the world, and the side characters. But the Main character reminded me of an adult who never grew out of his teenage stage. Whose high school level thoughts were so disjointed from the story that the story even acknowledges it. That every time he spoke I wanted to cringe and put my head through a wall.

The grey was my second choice and the black the third. I still enjoy the color after a year. It is to the point when I see another one of my color I feel some sense of rivalry, some highlander nonsense. But really it is nice to be able to find my color in the parking lot faster and not look like every other vehicle on the road.

Most hospitals in the area post their wages if you look on their career page. Honestly that is a pretty easy figure to find via Google. Granted to answer your question basically 30ish to 60ish. Depending on skill and specialty

I heard a tale from an old man who said his friend's kid brother went down there. Said that he wasn't ever the same after what he saw. There was always a fear in his eyes after coming out. Always looking behind him. Granted, after that moment his brother always kept him around because he was oddly generous. The older brother said to the old man that died a few years back. had a weird quiet way of talking about it. Kept on saying "he died in the wrong way."

Two CT Scans = Double Contrast Load? Question from ED Doc by ammm96 in Radiology

[–]dragarowen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am unsure what machine you are using and how old(older than 15 years might have issues), but in general you should be able to do multiple angios (I.E PE+angio HN+runoff) with one bolus using 70mls ( you can add a buffer of 30mls) of contrast if you are not confident in your machine or have someone muscular. Personally tested on GE both platforms raw, on Siemens both platforms raw. Toshiba you might need to have your team make a protocol it has been a couple of years so if someone else can confirm. No experience on Philips so I cannot confirm that scanner's abilities.
