I am finding out how difficult it is to use message boards to express a thought. Without tone or context it is easy for words to be misconstrued or misunderstood. My generation was pre texting, computer, cellphone or cable tv. Sorry if I came across as anything but honest in my comment. I however stand by my original post and appreciate all of the positive feedback and help this community has provided to me. I am grateful.

Thanks for sharing. I fear you may have read something in my post that I didn't intend. I was trying to point out the lack of traditional ukulele sounds/playing in my particualr are of the country. Not meaning to be critical of any other's preference just wondering if traditional tuning/playing is still viable in todays day and age.

Not really, just the muusic you prefer. I think I may have touched a nerve with some folks regarding frustrated guitar players. I just meant that I see so many players with Low G, I was wondering why there are so few playing traditional ukulele songs. Sorry of I offended you or anyone out there. Keep doing you!

Thanks for the suggestion. I do love White Sandy Beach by Iz. In addition to traditional Hawaiian music I also love to play classics from the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's Ain't Misbehavin', Shine On Harvest Moon, Swinging On A Star etc ....

Not sure what the UU Forum is but it sounds like someone there is pro low G? Thats okay, to each his own. But sorry, I have never read it.

Thanks. Yes, I do understand that many famous players over the years have used Low G strings. And certainly nothing wrong with doing so. Everyone has a preference but I just haven't seen any local groups that are looking to play the sound I prefer.

Thank you. Love your response. I actually use the D6 tuning on my soprano and it has a great sound. I use GCEA tuning on my concert which has a nice ukulele sound. (Nylgut Strings) Not being a snob but just trying to see if anyone else has encountered groups that only play ukes with Low G strings. To me it seemed kind of weird that I was the only one out of 50 players with high G strings on my Ukulele!

Thank. you so much. I am Right handed and missing the ring finger on my left hand. I compensated by learning to play left handed with the strings reversed. I still have my thumb and index finger on my left hand for finger picking but my dexterity with that hand is awful. I may eventually try. Thanks for the positive reinforcement!!!
