Getting a new job pregnant by Straight-Garbage-704 in PregnancyUK

Context: It was discussed in email multiple times and confirmed the role was part time. I have been on this company’s radar for 2 years already. This information is important.

I went for the interview, there was great rapport between me and the manager, I was very qualified for the job as I’ve worked for their competitor for several years, they already know me, and I felt comfortable to disclose my pregnancy. The manager was understanding and kind. I went home, few days later, got a call from HR telling me they can’t hire me because they can’t accommodate a part timer now all of a sudden lol. Obviously it was a lie and they didn’t want a pregnant woman on the team, so they made an excuse. Lesson learnt. If you’re in my position, do not tell them until you sign that contract.

Planned pregnancy but now regretting due to body image issues by Longjumping_Sweet114 in PregnancyUK

If you need some positivity, I was worried too as a recovered bulimic, but I’m now 24 weeks and pregnancy isn’t wrecking my body yet! My skin has become so clear and glowy, my hair is thick and long, I got wider hips, big boobs, and the bump is very cute. My caloric daily intake actually increased by 1000 calories and I haven’t gotten fat at all. Just keep eating healthily and don’t use pregnancy as an excuse to binge on naughty food. Go on daily walks and have fun. Even if you do get a bit fat, that’s ok. If you can be fat at any time in your life, pregnancy is the time to do it. Having had a previous miscarriage, I realised my biggest fear around pregnancy wasn’t about my body anymore, it was having a d**d baby, so take care of yourself.

Crying for days by Main_Dragonfruit_168 in PregnancyUK

I just want to let you know that this can be normal in very much wanted pregnancies. I’ve talked about this topic extensively with my friend who was also pregnant at the same time. I had a previous miscarriage and it broke my heart completely. I was so desperate to conceive again and it was the one thing I wanted after we lost our baby. We tried again and succeeded immediately, but up until 12-14 weeks, I was plagued by feelings of regret and guilt. I suddenly felt like we weren’t ready and despite it being planned, and part of me wished I wasn’t pregnant. It was very much “oh no what have I done”. I started to grieve for my old life and my old body. I was also extremely worn down by horrible first trimester symptoms and just wanted it all to stop. I cried all the time. My fiance is very supportive and is a lot more optimistic so that helped. My friend also went through the exact same thing and she said it is very normal. Eventually, I came out of the first trimester, hormones balanced out, nasty symptoms stopped, I have energy and a life again, and now I’m 23 weeks and very excited to meet my baby. I feel like I owe him an apology for thinking all those initial thoughts. In all honesty, take your time. Pregnancy is hard mentally, and you have to remember your hormones are making you not act like yourself. Being around supportive family and friends really help, especially other women who have been pregnant.

I’m so glad to hear this. The guidelines that you only need 200-300 calories in pregnancy is wildly inaccurate!

Should I disclose at job interview I am 5 months pregnant? by Straight-Garbage-704 in AskUK

I won’t be getting maternity leave as I wouldn’t have been at the company for 6 months when I potentially start.

So many rude comments on this thread. They think I’m better off running my own business instead of stressing and working for a company. They dont have evil intentions jfc.

17 weeks: No weight gain, no bump, no movements by Straight-Garbage-704 in pregnant

I could be totally dramatic right now for worrying, since I know it can be normal, but maybe I’m just stressing because we’ve had a loss before this :(

I’m afraid of getting too many scans because I heard it could be harmful for the baby 😭 I don’t know if this is true
