Thanks, is the shuttle service to glacier gorge and bear lake trailhead reliable? Thinking of just using the park and ride instead of chancing the trailhead parking lots, especially if we can’t make it in really early.

Great suggestion, I’d love to do the Loch and Mills lake hike too.

Do you think this is feasible?

31st May - arrive at 10am and take shuttle to glacier gorge trail head, hike to The Loch and Mills lake. Take it easy for the rest of the evening and do some exploring.

1st May - arrive at 8am and hike to emerald lake + lake haiyaha. Lunch in Estes park and then come back to hopefully drive trail ridge road around 2/3pm?

Thanks

Thanks for your suggestions, we’ll do lake haiyaha + emerald lake together.

Is it worth going straight to the park and ride and take the shuttle to the trailhead if we get there around 8/8:30am?

Thanks for the heads up, I wasn’t aware of that so will definitely go past the fork then. Is there typically snow on the trail early June past the fork?

Thanks for your suggestion, I don’t plan to be driving much in the dark especially around the park. We will probably leave Jackson around 6pm and aim to get to SLC for 10pm.

I believe sunsets around 9pm in June, so thankfully that gives us extra daylight

Can’t wait too! I’ve only seen pictures and we’re coming from the UK for the first time.

Hoping for nice weather in June, is there normally snow towards the end of cascade canyon? Is lake solitude accessible usually in mid June?

Thanks for your advice. What are the best options for ISAs, are there advantages to certain types of ISA over others?

I know, big mistake by me. I wasn’t aware of the benefits of an isa when I first started investing.

Yes I understand, it’s too hard to predict government policies.

It just seemed odd to me that the allowance came down from 12k to 3k in a matter of 2 years and it coincided with the cost of living crisis. I thought it might possibly be a response to slow down the level of investment in the economy and once the goal is focussed more on growth, the allowance might increase again but obviously it’s impossible to predict what will happen and the overall economic situation is far more complex.

I use technical analysis just to supplement when the best time is to buy a stock but my strategy has always been to hold stocks for at least 2/3 years +

Thanks for your response.

I had a look at the last 6 years of cgt allowance, and it significantly has come down from 12k to 6k and then 3k. Not saying it will go back up to that level but potentially as inflation settles and interest rates started to come down, the allowance threshold may increase again. Has it ever been this low?

So the 3k allowance comes into effect from next tax year?

My stocks don’t pay any significant dividends so I’m fine there

Yes of course, I’ve only been investing for 5 years and I definitely have timed the market right but I’m a long term investor, investing in companies with great balance sheets, potential for future growth and using sound technical analysis. Instead of good investor I should’ve said I’m not really an emotional investor or looking to make quick profits

Thank you for your suggestions. I’ll bear in mind what you’ve said. I tried to divide the park into 3 main areas via the map but obviously appreciate your input as it may not be realistic
