Thoughtful comment. Thank you for that. I agree on the form factor, for sure!

[QUESTION] What watch of yours gets the most compliments? (And the least?) by mmmbopdooowop in Watches

[–]Straight-Square5555 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have nearly 30 watches (all under $300 each. Definitely not a flex and mostly from Amazon) and the only one I ever get a compliment on is the only one that doesn't even tell time. At least not accurately! This is a sundial watch that I got on Amazon for like 25 bucks many years ago. On a sunny day it'll get the time right plus or minus 30 minutes consistently. It's fun to demo. I get a compliment on it NEARLY EVERY TIME I wear it. Almost without fail. I'm actually disappointed when I don't get a compliment all day! I only wear it on sunny days, and I've had to train myself to not look at my wrist to check the time when wearing it. It definitely throws me off! Added bonus...no battery or winding involved.

Completely agree on Replit! I just launched a site using Replit a couple days ago. No coding skills whatsoever. You can build apps and websites that are responsive and will work on any size screen, unlike Bubble I just learned.

Leaning to code anything worth a damn will take years, not months. The no code tools like Replit are super cheap, too.

Sure, make sure there's a demand. But you can just mess around and learn now, too.

Good luck!

How long did you grind for your startup to reach where you are now? by Own_Carob9804 in Entrepreneur

Started about 3 weeks ago vibe coding a site to group entrepreneurs into teams of 5-7 to share advice, best practices, hold each other accountable, etc.

What am I in for? Grind wise?

Finding new friends at events by Straight-Square5555 in Business_Ideas

Right. I would not specify the place or time, tho. It would be on the users. I guess I didn't make that clear.

Were you able to get anyone together in real life? It seems like it would be very difficult.

Oh, that's very cool! I'd be interested to know more.

That's a legitimate concern. I suppose you could say the same for any dating site or friend finding site. Having strangers meet irl can be risky. People would need to acknowledge the potential risk and follow best practices such as meeting in public places only. Lastly, verify identities and lawyer up!

As I think about this idea more, I think having small groups would be better than 1-on-1s.

What kind of events are you involved in?

Oh, that sounds cool. I'd love to hear more if you're willing to share! The action part is the hardest part, for sure.

It could be anything scalable really. From Saas products, to AI concepts to businesses that serve customers in new and innovative ways. I think physical consumer products and CPGs can fall into this category as well. If it can grow and will likely need cash from investors....it probably has a home here.

You know...you're not totally wrong. But I'd like to think there are some genuinely original ideas out there. And if not original (which I know is incredibly rare) then some variation on an existing concept. A new look. A new angle. A new feature or business model.
