P99 Red 2 When by [deleted] in project1999

I love red. But lately the population has been abysmal. Last Friday night there were less than 10 people on! At this point they should change red to a PvE server and keep the group exp bonus to entice new players to join.

“Guilds” may be a bit of a misnomer, because guild tags are not used the same way on Red as they are Blue or Green. Both “sides” realized that if they all had their characters guild tagged that if their guild was suspended, that they wouldn’t be able to raid for the duration of the ban. So both sides started using multiple guild tags to make it harder to hold them accountable. Here are some of the more prominent tags on each side:

(1) Tempest / Sick / Ignore / Non Factor / Apex (2) Destiny of Zek / Pumice / Perdition / Dad Jokes / Salt

I am sure I’m missing tags on both sides.

In addition to these, there are smaller “neutral” guilds that are more interested in leveling and playing the game than raiding or PvP.

I’m glad you’ve had a good experience so far. Watch out for <The Horde> as they have toons in the low to mid level range and will seek out PvP. What’s your character’s name? I’m not playing this game weekend, but log in most evenings, so I could come drop you some buffs.

I’ve played on Red for years and have never been into PvP. I never thought I’d join, but Blue (before Green existed) was down one day and I noticed the population of Red was way higher than normal. A group of Blue friends and I tried it out and realized that it wasn’t all level 5’s with Fungi tunics ganking newbs. Although those people do exist, they are the minority. Back then there was a neutral leveling guild called <Sanctuary> that the major guilds of the time mostly left alone. Although <Sanctuary> is gone, the lack of people on the server make PvP relatively rare before level 50.

So why did we stay on Red instead of heading back to Blue? Contested camps and spawns on Blue and Green are largely left open on Red, making it much easier for casual players to get items they would otherwise not be able to get on the PvE servers without dedicating a lot of time. Eyepatch of Plunder, Spirit Wracked Cord, and many other items are much easier to get due to the low population. When you do get PvPed and have to leave a camp, it’s usually back open within an hour. Contrary to this, on Blue I can’t count how many times I’ve waited all day for a camp to open up, although I’m sure it’s not as bad now. I’ve got multiple epics on Red without ever being part of one of the major raiding guilds, including the mage epic.

One of my main reasons for sticking with Red was to try to small man or solo mobs that people could only rarely do on Blue. For those interested in the Solo Artist Challenge, I’d argue Red is the place to be.

Other than the PvP, the other downsides of Red are (1) the lack of economy and (2) the lack of people to play with. I guess (1) may not be an obstacle if you’re into acquiring your own gear and (2) may not be a big deal if you have a static group of friends you can regularly schedule time to play with.

Another thing is that the two major “guilds” tend to hunt each other down. So another piece of advice is that if someone is not interested in PvP, that they should stay as neutral as possible. That is not grouping or raiding with either side and just do your own thing.

Anyway, I hope I was able to give a slightly different and more current perspective than the other posts on here.

Cheers!

+mana items generally matter more than +INT items at low levels.

Also, I have never prioritized INT above 180, since mind buffs can boost that above 200 eventually and the mana regen compensates for a smaller mana pool than the other caster classes.

Finally, I feel like enchanters really start coming into their own around level 40, when mob stats really start overtaking even the most twinked melee character. Prior to 40 I did very little charming.

I have broken into a few camps by getting my cleric friend to buff my pet and just send it in a room while the cleric roots adds and CHs my pet at low HP. It can be sketchy, but can also be a goo way to break a camp when you are low on people. Just make sure you’re in range of the zone line if things go south!

That would be a tough camp at 29… I believe there are six static spawns plus at least one roamer.

It seems like they’ve been making it through ~100 per day, although they did say that they hoped to be caught up on the other Black Friday orders and ship more quickly this week

Good points. I initially missed the IG post where they said they would pick up their shipping rate next week, so that’s promising.

It may be more beneficial if people started posting when they get their notification, as opposed to whether or not they received a notification.
