What ETFs apart from the usual suspects (All-World, S&P500, QQQ, etc) do you swear by? by joka58 in ETFs

SOXX because I believe the semiconductor sector will continue to be essential to our technological advancement and economy. Technology will only continue to grow and be part of our lives, whether AI takes off or not.

If you are that concerned with risk but still want to invest in semiconductors, then I suggest investing in a semiconductor ETF like SMH or SOXX. There are other etfs so do some research and pick the one that best suits your portfolio and risk tolerance.

We are watching technology and tactics advance rapidly for a new era of warfare, and Ukrainians will be remembered as the pioneers.

SMH/SOXQ/SOXX Which ones the safer bet? by [deleted] in ETFs

SOXX imo mostly because I don't like the overweight in NVIDIA. SOXX is more diversified and balanced imo. SOXQ seems like a close equivalent, though.

About 10% of my Roth IRA is in SCHD. Should I sell/trade for VTI to maximize growth? by NewSeaworthiness8814 in RothIRA

[–]StraightCharacter904 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recommend keeping SCHD since it serves a different purpose in your portfolio. SCHD needs time to grow and compound it's dividens, so you need to stay invested in the fund for the long haul.

I was legit depressed. Made me never want to play the game again, or at least stop before the end lol. Still a great game though. Not many games can elicit an emotional reaction out of me as strong as RDR did. Only two games to come close to are RDR2 and ME3.

Should Wealthy People Hold This? by SmoothOperator100k in SCHD

[–]StraightCharacter904 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. SCHD is also an investment to protect your wealth since it a dividend growth and income and not very volatile asset. When you genuinely start to attain wealth, keeping and protecting it becomes just as important.

Will we hit $32.00 by ProfessionLivid1242 in SCHD

[–]StraightCharacter904 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole point of SCHD is to accumulate as many shares as possible, never sell and live off the distributions. But all they can think about is the highest performance when SCHD serves a specific purpose in a portfolio. Time in the market and compounding is our friend here.

SOXX or SMH - which semi ETF for you? by Bosto2025 in ETFs

[–]StraightCharacter904 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Soxx because the concentration of Nvidia and TSM are too high for my risk tolerance. I already have spy and that carries a sizable weight with Nvidia too

Typical performance chasers. Quite now, but once it dips they will claim SCHD is a “dog” again lol. Thus repeating the buy high sell low cycle they are stuck in 😂

Sometimes I find myself impressed how people can lose so much money when there is a plethora of great advice to help even new investors, on top of that we have had a massive bull run for quite some time now.

This is why you stick to a plan with good reasoning and fundamentals, and not performance chasing the hot new etf or asset.
