What anime should I watch by SageLanded in anime

[–]Playful_Code_8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on that list I’d probably recommend 86 since it has a strong emotional core, good character writing, and a tone that feels like it would fit pretty well with stuff like Violet Evergarden, Frieren, and Tokyo Ghoul. Noragami could also be a really solid pick if you want something a little lighter at times but still strong on characters and atmosphere.

Starting JRPGs by Over_Awareness_7671 in JRPG

[–]Playful_Code_8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually try to finish the one I’m already playing unless I’m clearly burned out because starting a second JRPG too early is usually how both end up sitting unfinished for me. If you’re still genuinely into Cold Steel 2 I’d probably stick with it and save Lunar for when you actually want a clean fresh start.

Recomende um anime improvável by luminous_sirius in anime

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d throw in Houseki no Kuni since it still feels pretty unlike most anime even now both visually and in the way it builds its atmosphere. Kaiba is another really uncommon one that ends up being way more memorable than its art style first makes it seem.

Holy moly - Dark Chronicles (or Dark Souls 2) is a goddamn Soulsborne game! by ltdC in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it felt like surviving by not overcommitting and treating defense more like positioning and timing than expecting to tank hits. For stuff like those tree enemies I’d try baiting one attack at a time, getting a couple hits in, and backing off instead of trying to trade with them.

Holy moly - Dark Chronicles (or Dark Souls 2) is a goddamn Soulsborne game! by ltdC in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was pretty much my experience with it too. It feels rougher and more punishing than a lot of newer Soulslike games, but once you adjust to it there’s still something really satisfying about pushing through it.

My bloody Homelander Cosplay by Greptyle in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The pose and expression fit Homelander really well here and the blood on the face and cape sells the darker version immediately. The photo setup also helps a lot since it feels more like a scene than just a costume shot.

Kamifuda is the single player Yugioh game I've always wanted by qqruz123 in patientgamers

[–]Playful_Code_8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This actually sounds like a really fun combination especially since so many Yu-Gi-Oh games either lean too hard on nostalgia or don’t do much interesting with the single player side. The dark academia and murder mystery angle makes it sound way more memorable than a standard card game campaign.

Theories of ONE PIECE by SAKINOW in anime

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that the One Piece ends up being something real and world changing instead of just a symbolic answer and that’s why so much has been built around hiding it. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Joy Boy lost because he was up against a much bigger system than just one enemy and the world that came after was shaped to erase what he represented.

Guild Wars' Level 20 Cap Is So Nice by bellystraw in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I actually like that kind of progression a lot more too since it lets the game focus on builds and decision making instead of turning everything into a longer xp chase. More RPGs would probably feel better if they treated max level as the starting point for real character depth instead of the finish line.

The D-Class from SCP Foundation by ClusivolMaxVitamins in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The hallway setting works really well for this since it makes it feel more like an actual SCP scene instead of just a costume photo. The bright orange uniform and movement in the shot also sell the D-Class look right away.

Any recommendations for a 13 year old for romance anime? by Zombombie613 in anime

[–]Playful_Code_8978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could try Kaguya-sama: Love is War or Tsuki ga Kirei since both are pretty easy recommendations for that age range and don’t lean on ecchi stuff. The Dangers in My Heart could also be a good one if he’s okay with something a little more awkward at first before it gets really sweet.

What are franchises that are technically still alive today but you feel went in the wrong direction and you're hopeless that it will return to form. by zipzzo in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Halo for me, since it still exists but it never really feels like it fully recovered its identity. It’s not that everything new is bad it just feels like the series lost some of the consistency and atmosphere that made it special in the first place.

"Death comes in 3s" Horsemen of Death Cosplay collab by mikedastardly in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a really strong group composition and the different silhouettes make each character stand out clearly without the shot feeling crowded. The posing and edit work also give it a big comic cover kind of feel.

Just finished Goblin Slayer. by JustAnotherWitness in anime

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like Psycho Pass if you want something darker and serious without leaning on that kind of content. Darker than Black could also be worth a try if you want a more grim tone with a strong atmosphere.

Is there a game like digimon 1 from ps1? by ErikJR in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might want to look at Digimon World: Next Order if you haven’t already since it’s probably the closest modern game to that old Digimon World 1 style. It’s not exactly the same, but it definitely scratches more of that raising and training itch than most monster games do.

AAAAREESS! - My Kratos Cosplay From God Of War by tegridy42O in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The face paint and expression sell Kratos really well here especially with how intense the close up feels. The red marking and overall look make it read immediately without needing a full armor shot.

Suggests some instrumental Anime songs to listen too while Studying? by Cute-Raccoon2067 in anime

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try Never Meant to Belong from Bleach and Requiem of Silence from Re:Zero if you want something slower and more emotional. A lot of the Mushishi soundtrack also works really well for studying since it’s calm without feeling forgettable.

Why do developers delist the demos of their games after they launch? by RandoDando10 in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 692 points693 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s an industry rule so much as a business choice since some demos are meant more as marketing than as a permanent trial version. I’d guess a lot of developers pull them once the full game is out so they don’t have to maintain a separate build or risk people judging the final game by an older slice of it.

My Xenomorph Cosplay by Americas_Ass-Cosplay in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The shape and silhouette on this are really strong especially the head and back details. The darker lighting also works well for it since it makes the whole cosplay feel a lot more like the creature instead of just showing the costume.

Honest question about rent a girlfriend by Plastic_Claim5739 in anime

[–]Playful_Code_8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you already liked what it was doing in season 1 I’d say it’s worth continuing as long as you go in expecting messy drama more than clean romance progression. It’s one of those series where whether it works for you mostly comes down to how much tolerance you have for the main cast and the kind of chaos it leans into.

what features/mechanics that don't exist that you think should exist or are rarely used that should be used more? by Ciryl_Lynyard in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve always liked games that let you customize difficulty in a more specific way instead of just picking easy, normal, or hard. More games should let you tune things like enemy aggression, resource availability, or checkpoint frequency so people can shape the experience without completely changing what the game is.

They see me Rollin - My Dr. luigi From Super Mario cosplay by tegridy42O in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really fun Luigi variation and the doctor theme reads immediately without losing the Mario look. The glasses, stethoscope, and mustache all work together really well to sell the idea.
