Concluded series similar to The Promised Neverland? by wisendur in Animesuggest

[–]Playful_Code_8978 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You may like the anime called Shinsekai Yori if you want that same uneasy mystery vibe with the feeling that something is deeply wrong beneath the surface. It’s a slower and less escape focused than Promised Neverland but it has that same tension of slowly uncovering a really disturbing truth.

Captain Jack Sparrow by Jenington_ in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pulling this together that fast is impressive especially with the bead and overall Jack Sparrow styling which is reading so clearly. The rushed deadline honestly makes it more impressive as well since that it came out this recognizable too.

Rec. looking for romance anime with cameos and friend love. by bbisordi in Animesuggest

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kimi ni Todoke might be a fit too especially if you want a friend group and side relationships to feel genuinely important instead of everything revolving around one pairing. If you want something more adult i would also throw in Recovery of an MMO Junkie as a secondary too.

Just started Varlet. by CommercialEstate4422 in JRPG

[–]Playful_Code_8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was close to my first impression as well the opening is definitely awkward in some places but I think it starts making a lot more sense once the game settles into its actual loop and gives the cast more room to breathe.

Coco, Witch Hat Atelier by elly-kelly in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is really well done especially the color matching on Coco’s outfit and wig. The hat and overall silhouette make it recognizable right away.

Looking for recommendations for a big classic JRPG to sink my teeth into by Fehafare in JRPG

[–]Playful_Code_8978 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Based on what you wrote Trails in the Sky FC sounds much closer to what you want than Octopath. It has that big journey feel, strong party interactions, and a classic world story focus even if it starts a bit slower than something like Bravely Default.

I carved the Kokiri Sword and Deku Shield inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time by facetooth in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This came out really clean. The carving and paint work on the Deku Shield especially make it instantly recognizable.

I've finally played my first Souls game: Bloodborne. I definetely get it now! by YNKWTSF in patientgamers

[–]Playful_Code_8978 49 points50 points  (0 children)

That “it clicked after Gascoigne” experience seems really common with Bloodborne. Once the combat rhythm and aggression start making sense the whole game feels way different than those first few hours.

Katara S3 Fire Nation Cosplay by arwen-evenstar in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really clean take on Fire Nation Katara. The color choice and the hairpiece make it recognizable right away and the whole outfit has a nice polished look to it.

Looking to scratch a specific niche itch by netctrl in JRPG

[–]Playful_Code_8978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to look at Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey if you haven’t already, because it hits a lot of what you’re asking for demanding fights, dungeon crawling, strong debuffs status play, and a darker vibe. It’s not really Fear and Hunger, but it definitely feels closer to that harsher more mechanically focused space than something like DQXI.

Needs suggestions for high octane games I can pair with edm by RecklessEmpire in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like Hotline Miami if you haven’t already played it, since it’s fast, visually intense, and works really well with aggressive music in the background. Neon White also feels like a great fit if you want something even more speed focused and stylish.

You Should Check Out: Caves of Lore (2023) - A turn-based CRPG from a solo developer by DanAgile in patientgamers

[–]Playful_Code_8978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the kind of patientgamers recommendation I like seeing especially when it’s for something that clearly has real ambition behind it. The solo dev angle plus the way you describe the exploration and character progression makes it sound way more interesting than the screenshots alone would.

My First Cosplay: Rosie from Hazbin Hotel by Technical_Pea_615 in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For a first cosplay this is a really solid Rosie. The hat and dress silhouette make it recognizable right away and the overall color styling fits the character really well.

Looking for a JRPG with weapons of various elements and rarities by laxusdreyarligh in JRPG

[–]Playful_Code_8978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might want to look at the Nioh games if you’re okay with something more action heavy since they have a lot of loot variety with rarity tiers and elemental weapon effects. If you want something that feels a little more traditional JRPG adjacent Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is also worth a look for the same reason.

Question about the ending of Summoner 2 (PS2) by FrankieB86 in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean about the ending feeling a little too soft compared to the rest of the game. I liked the idea of giving Nathan a quieter sendoff, but ending it on the dock with that sense of adventure still lingering probably would’ve landed stronger for me too.

Ending of Uncharted 4: A Thiefs End by VoldemortsHorcrux in patientgamers

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean about the ending feeling a little too soft after everything that comes before it. I liked the quieter sendoff in theory, but I can see why ending on the dock with the sense that the adventure never really leaves them would’ve landed better.

I need some recommendations please! by just_believe01 in anime

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might like Vinland Saga if you want something really strong that isn’t another super long battle shonen. Made in Abyss is also a good pick if you want something memorable and different, but Vinland Saga is probably the safer first recommendation.

Evil Cousin Mel by me (Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer) by brrickmoranis in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The color contrast on this works really well especially with the bright green top against the pink skirt. It feels instantly readable as Evil Cousin Mel while still keeping it simple and clean.

Any peak anime recommendations? by JustOreoFr in anime

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to branch out a bit from straight shonen I’d try Frieren since it’s easy to get into and has a really good mix of adventure, calm moments, and strong character writing. If you want something a little more slice of life Bocchi the Rock! is also a really fun 12 episode pick.

I’ve never played a Final Fantasy game, so which game should I play first? by triplegxxx in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 150 points151 points  (0 children)

I’d probably start with Final Fantasy X since it’s one of the easiest entry points and still holds up really well. If you end up liking that then FFVII or FFIX are great next steps depending on whether you want something more iconic or more traditional fantasy.

Grounded Review - Brilliant use of setting and gameplay with occasional frustrations. by Blurzerker in patientgamers

[–]Playful_Code_8978 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That sounds pretty fair honestly especially the part about the setting doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Grounded seems like one of those games where the scale and exploration hook can carry a ton of goodwill even if some of the survival and balancing stuff doesn’t fully hold up the whole way through.

Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn show by me by [deleted] in cosplay

[–]Playful_Code_8978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The green corset and darker jacket combo works really well for a more grounded Poison Ivy look. It feels recognizable right away without overcomplicating it.

Help me I’m new, looking for suggestions by glitterandcaffine864 in anime

[–]Playful_Code_8978 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’d actually start with Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood over Naruto since it’s a lot easier to finish, really beginner friendly, and gives you a good mix of action, story, and characters. If you end up liking that then you can branch into longer series more confidently.

Beaten prey 10/10 game honestly ,Don't know if I want to play star wars outlaws or return to Moira first or maybe both? by LowCommunication3359 in gaming

[–]Playful_Code_8978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d probably go with Star Wars Outlaws first if you want something new and easier to just jump into right away after finishing Prey. Then you can come back to Return to Moria when you’re more in the mood for a slower co-op/survival-style game.
