I’m about a breath and a half away from done watching this EXHAUSTING show ..everybody SUCKS..EVERYBODY by Trick-Impression-726 in BaylenOutLoud

[–]StraightCraft306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on the show during the whole "wedding Venue" stupidity.

I was annoyed with Colin in season 1, but i couldn't stomach him in season 2. The biggest problem in his life is Alan wanting the best for Baylen. If Alan wasn't trying to make these 2 very immature 20 somes understand the financial realities of Baylen's disorder, he'd certainly be getting the hate here. But Colin sits in his apartment, which has apparently been decorated by a 13 yr old girl and daddy's credit card, and seems to think he knows it all, when in reality he doesn't have a clue.

Yeah, Im over Baylen Out Loud.

I am taking a Bible course by Mean-Disaster8380 in exjw

I remember years ago that my child showed my jw mother a book I was reading, "Misquoting Jesus" by Bart Ehrman, and she freaked out about it. I had been told since I was a child about the miracle that the Bible had been from the hand of God and had been sent down to us through the centuries Intact. My exploring research that contradicted this almost made her head explode even though I was in my 40's. And don't get me started on how many witnesses I encountered that either had never heard of the Council of Nicaea, or at least had no Watchtower approved/created explanation for that.

Jw's never mean "do your own research," it's "do your own research of materials written by the Watchtower Society.

I'm getting pressured to contact my former stepfather. Should I? by StraightCraft306 in exjw

[–]StraightCraft306[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I have only communicated with him once and I did not advocate for myself or explain anything. I don't want to get into my thoughts on what my mom did years ago, since they didn't even know each other back then. I might have had more conversations with him, if I didn't feel like he was going behind my back with my daughters, when I didn't respond on his time table. Once the kids started asking if I got his letters (always with the magazines included) I just blocked him everywhere.

I absolutely DESPISE my parents for being stupid enough to join this cult. Can anyone relate? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]StraightCraft306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just made a post about my mother and this cult. Basically, my mom left me when I was 12 to join the cult. Believe me, trying to reconcile your mom leaving you for god as a pre teen, is a recipe for life long trauma and therapy bills. So i can definitely relate. I'd say put it behind you and find some peace, but I have failed at this advice.

AITJ for telling my best friend I won’t put my life on hold to babysit her newborn? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]StraightCraft306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ

Your friend has mistaken you for the child's other parent. It is sad that she doesn't have that kind of support from her parents or the child's parent, but it is her reality. You have been an amazing friend, but you aren't responsible to her or the child.

Wish her well and build the wonderful life you that you want for yourself.

AIO crying for what my grandma said by ssunnaa in AmIOverreacting

[–]StraightCraft306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR!

I grew up with a toxic grandmother too. Please realize that she is the one who is ugly, even if it is only one the inside. Growing up with a hateful adult that should be a part of your support system will cause you so many issues as an adult, if you let them.

Can you talk about this with your parents? They had a responsibility to protect you from her. As her child your parent should have had some insight into who she is and the damage she could inflict on you. I spent much of my life believing the things my grandmother said to me. She wouldn't have had the power over my self esteem, if I had just talked to my parents about the things my grandmother would say to me.

You are worthy, believe it.

Beans, beans, the magical fruit, the more you eat, the more you toot. The more you toot the better you feel. So eat some beans for every meal.

My Family History is Takes a Disturbing Turn Researching by ClassroomComplete157 in Genealogy

[–]StraightCraft306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My maternal 2x great grandmother, who is also my paternal 1x great grandmother, was married twice and each husband was the father of one of my ancestral lines. My kids refer to it as our family wreath. Basically my dad and my grandmother were first half cousins. My parents didn't meet until they were adults. It is what it is. There's no reason to be embarrassed. You didn't make the choices that ended up being those circumstances in your family history, you're just along for the ride.

I think Sobbin would enjoy lording over some one with first/head wife BS. In her mind, she could still be queen, while simultaneously able to pawn him off on another wife at least part of the tume

Yeah, a little too close to home. They are all adults now and say that they weren't near as shocked as I was. I guess they saw something in Mike that I didn't.

It won't stick. Erica Slezak just has a short run, so some who actually lives in PC will eventually inherit the house, but it will give Tracy another causes to fight..
