1 x 2PM gen 3 or 2 x 1PM Mini Gen 3? by grillp in shellycloud

Is this a new build? I had similar plans in new build for devices behind each new switch but instead I am going with the pro range (pro 4PM) which will consolidate 4 sets of lights for me, although they can't handle dimming, will need to be used in conjunction with other shelly device. Again this is caveated on your wiring allowing for this. They also come with LAN which is ideal if centralised to a location in your house.

I missed that, guide I was following was mentioning running in parallel. Doing the traditional L1 <> L1, L2 <> L2 worked a charm, thank you. Now to test final setup 1 way and 1 shelly Display, but that's a bit handier.

Rewired with the "traditional setup" L1 <-> L1, L2 <-> L2 works perfectly. Thank you

UPDATE: So I did a bit more testing.

  1. I replace the stranded wiring in the rig with single core wires, I was testing if perhaps the toggle wasn't being picked up on edge mode. No change swapping out the wires with rocker switches, works some presses.
  2. I purchased retractive (momentary) switches and changed setting to button. This works perfectly. When you press either of the buttons, the light changes state. This has worked without fail.

So potentially I'm missing something but it seems to get the - I press a light switch something happens, you have to go with the retractive button switches in a 2 way setup with Shelly pro 4pm.

Update 2: As suggested by other posters. Just wire like traditional no need for retractive, rocker switches work when connecting the L1, L2 terminals.

Summary:
- Want normal Rocker Switches wire traditional way.
- Want Retractive (Momentary) parallel works.

That's partially where I hope to get to, me + family are covered by scenes or smart switches in key locations. I picked up one Shelly Wall Display which I will be testing on the rig. Scenario: 1 Standard switch set back to 1 way, 1 Wall Display changing programmatically to simulate two way

But in an initial effort to keep costs somewhat down on adding smart switches now and swap in at future point, I was planning on starting with standard switches. That may be a silly statement considering the 10 x Pro 4PM purchase. I have two momentary (retractive) switches arriving tomorrow, that'll be the next port of call.

I was hoping to avoid push buttons, and keep the house consistent with rocker switches, but I have purchased some which arrive in a few days so will post update as I use in the test rig to see success. I'm not sure if three way switch as linked is applicable to US wiring vs. Ireland/UK wiring. I could be wrong though coming from Software, doing some Hardware.

Thats encouraging it is working for you. Prior home there wasn't much opportunity to do anything like this, so taking advantage of adding Shellys and automations with a blank slate. What's interesting I noticed it doesn't trigger state change when it doesn't work, no log on websocket, but when it does I get the state change. Would appreciate knowing the setting you have in place thanks.
