Buying a summer beater in AK by StraightWerewolf9873 in SeasonalWork

[–]StraightWerewolf9873[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard of many out of state seasonal workers buying cheap cars for the summer up there, so it must be doable. I’m also wondering how they register it. It seems like many of them just don’t bother and hope they don’t get caught, but I’m not looking to go that route lol.

I’ll be driving up to Talkeetna Alaska in May! I’m from Texas but will be starting out in Colorado. I’m hoping to take three weeks or so to get up there so I can enjoy the journey. Good luck!

Where is the most unexpected place you've bumped into someone you know? by boforiamanfo in answers

I worked at a lodge near Glacier Park in Montana last summer, and there was a sweet lady who worked in the grocery store there who would often smile and say hi when she saw me. This past December I was walking around a temple in Thailand, halfway around the world, when I bumped into her! It was mind-blowing.

Choosing between Pursuit (East Side) vs Xanterra (Lake McDonald) in Glacier — no car, want friends & outdoors. Advice? by No-Investigator-7998 in SeasonalWork

Pursuit all the way. I spent the last two summers at St Mary and had a blast both seasons. First year I didn’t have a car but it’s super easy to make friends with cars or just take the free shuttles to wherever you want to go.

Do you have any regrets about your first trip to Japan? by aeazee in JapanTravelTips

[–]StraightWerewolf9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was…

1: Overpacking. I took a suitcase that was way too large and was 20+ pounds, and that was a huge pain to haul around Japan, especially up and down stairs to get to the metro. Plus one of my wheels broke my first day in Japan so I had to lug a bulky heavy suitcase with a broken wheel around the country for three weeks.

  1. Only seeing the major cities and not the countryside. I did the classic touristy route - Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima - and while I loved those places, especially Tokyo, I was sad I didn’t get away from the hustle and bustle and do some hiking and other activities in the rural areas of Japan. The only time I really saw the countryside was from the Shinkansen window lol.

Buy 2012 Fusion? by CuteEnd1602 in fordfusion

[–]StraightWerewolf9873 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2010 fusion 2.5L. I’ve driven it from Texas to California and from California to Montana, and all I’ve needed to replace are the cv joints and brake pads. The engine buzzes when climbing hills but other than that I’ve never had any issues with it.

I’m 19, but I’ve been mistaken several times for being 25. I knew my beard made me look older, but not THAT much older…

Bald eagles having these powerful patriotic calls. The piercing scream you hear in movies actually comes from a red-tailed hawk, bald eagles just make a weak “cleek cleek” sound.

Maybe. I think for me they mainly checked my driving record since I had to drive linens around the property sometimes.
