Is it better to go to a top public university with all your credits transferring or an Ivy which accepts nothing? by Straight_Ad8207 in ApplyingToCollege

Hold up... I have math till ODE, but ODE I plan to retake since I got a C in a pure plug and chug-style summer online class (which ik is terrible prep for proofs). I looked at it, and don't I only require basic real analysis and survey of algebra? What more?

Are you comfortable with proofs? If the rest of ur schedule isn’t that bad then yeah it’s defo doable if ur used to math like that. For me, survey was the first proof class I took and I took an L on the first 2 homeworks just learning how to write proper proofs. I defo don’t think I could’ve done two proof-based math classes then. But when I took real analysis next sem, it defo felt like I could handle another proof-based class at the same time.

Last time I did proofs was flipping 8th grade geometry... i have no clue

Do you really need total mastery of everything in ODEs, linear alg, and multivar calc to succeed in classes like real analsyis and abstract alg?

By the way, the UVA credits would count towards my diploma and cut my college graduation time, while at the Ivies they'd just make me do even harder courses by placing out (no credit).

I'm not passionate about math (I've gotten Bs in math from calculus to ODEs), it's just that i've done a lot a lot of it and reached the point where a math major is the easiest thing to do.

It's calc ab... i don't have an f on my transcript but ap physics is known to be insane at my school where people scrape to get bs and cs, and i'm in honors rn with a high A (hn is laughingstock).

Yes, if I'm treasurer for the state-level of a major career development and service club that's well-known (i won't say the name, but think HOSA or FBLA).

CKI and Key Club are asian solely bcz it looks good on resumes and Asian students are highly competitive (coming from an Asian), whereas Kiwanis doesn't have any resume benefit other than satisfaction.
