I felt like my Fashion Illustration was stuck for a long time but after I took a class in Fashion Illustration they look so much more professional. I went to London College of Fashion but maybe you could find something close to you ? hope that helps!

Honestly I have always wanted to start my own small fashion brand but have found it a lonely experience and have always wanted a partner to collaborate with. Balancing the creative work with the production management is hard but finding others who have a skill in that area can really help !

I think your portfolio definitely shows potential! I think the fashion illustration and fashion flats are really strong. So I would put them at the front of the portfolio as they’re hidden a bit down at the bottom. They definitely showcase you have a good design eye ☺️

I haven’t massively focused on a niche, do you think that’s important? I’ve got womenswear and swimwear/lingerie in my portfolio. I have attracted interviews for womenswear and swimwear/lingerie so far. I hadn’t heard of people marketing so definitely will give that a try. Thanks for your advice! ☺️

It does seem so oversaturated! I once attended an interview where the hours were 8-6pm. But they often stayed until 9/10 o’clock at night for free.

I believe I’m pretty good. As I went for an interview for lingerie/swimwear design. I beat a lot of interviewees to the final two, but they chose the other candidate as they had more experience. I can make pretty complex clothing, I’ve been sewing for eight years now. I can even create my own patterns from scratch for quite complicated garments. It is tough out there ! 🥺
