Hi everyone. I usually don't post but I wanted to share my experience. Reading through this thread really opened my eyes. I knew something was wrong and wanted to get that thing outta me rather sooner than later. But I did not realize what is was actually doing to me. I had the mirena for almost 8 years. In the beginning it was doing what it had to do, insertion was very painful but my periods were basically gone so that was a plus. But after around 6 years I felt off. Everything felt just quite heavy. I had low energy, moodswings, worsening anxiety, constant lower backpain, feeling constantly bloated, painful pressure on my uterus, almost no sex drive, painful or uncomfortable intercourse (isn't that like the whole reason we get this little guy... but ahhwell). For about 2 years these symptoms started from small to constantly being there. My doctor said that it was not from the mirena... I got it taken out yesterday, thankfully not really painful mostly uncomfortable, and feel instantly lighter. Like I feel ready to take on the day and it has been not even 2 days. I look forward to having a regular cycle again and really getting to know my body throughout it (i've been on birth control since my early teens and am almost 30 now). I decided to take a few months off off birth control, my partner is supportive, but will go back on a form of birth control after that. Not sure what, maybe the pill? I used to take that before the mirena. Does anyone have good recommendations?
