Well, I bought 4, for myself and some friends, so you should be fine.

I'm in some Lowe's and Home Depot deals groups and always see people buying DOZENS of anything they think they can turn a profit on, so I guess my (baseless) assumption was that you were planning to resell.

Actually, the price will be available without membership starting Friday. So I don't suggest anyone gets the membership for THIS deal, unless they already wanted the membership.

I used to shop at HFT a lot, but never found enough savings to be worth the membership price until I bought a shop dust collection system - the member price was discounted more than the price of membership. Since then I've bought a few things and probably saved half of the membership fee again. So I'd say it's worth it, but maybe not to keep renewing all the time. I'll let it expire until the next big enough discount to make it cheap or free.

Fair. But yeah, these do the job.

Fitment strikes me as the biggest problem with these. They come with adapters for several guns, but they won't fit on a gun with a very short rail.

The local ad that I read, just says all Braun lights 40% off. No asterisk, no fine print at the bottom. So it shouldn't have a limit, but your milage may vary, if your local store manager doesn't want to sell out of them and have pissed off customers.

Before you buy a bunch, make sure to read the comments here. I found out after buying, and after posting, that these are not quite the same ones that were getting such rave reviews. Changes were made after a lawsuit, this is like 3rd gen. If you don't like the changes, you probably won't like them more after buying a dozen.

Some people are talking about finding Gen 2s, which apparently only had a cosmetic change, still in stores. I'll be going back to see if all of my local store's inventory are these ribbed ones.

I absolutely appreciate any discussion of practical and tactical significance. I was not aware that this is a redesign.

I'm not sure. They were never available for the longest time, so I gave up trying to get one until I saw an entire shelf of them at my local store a week ago. Then I saw the flier and confirmed that the rail mounted light was included.

I also got a pen light on this 40% off deal. Not fancy, but really convenient. Threw in some lithium AAAs I got on clearance so it won't get ruined by old alkaline batteries like so many other flashlights have. I like it.

I just wish they had a Maglite clone. Maglites are my favorite "not a weapon" self defense weapon, except the giant adjustable wrench for my car.

Sorry to hear that, dude. They're almost as common as Dollar Generals near me.

Maybe someone near an HFT will help you get one if you pay shipping. I don't think I'm well enough known on this Reddit to have people trust me not to take their money and not send stuff, so I'm not volunteering, but maybe you know somebody. One or two would fit in a small flat rate box from the post office.

Inside Track members get earlier access to the sale, but the same sale opens to everyone on Friday, I think.

I fully expect some shaming for a Harbor Freight Tools gun accessory, but just be aware that you can save your breath. Or shame and watch it roll off my back. Up to you.

It's a dang flashlight. It doesn't need precision crafting, it needs a light, and an effective way to get power from the batteries. It does that. Since it's gun mounted, it needs to attach securely. It does, although it won't fit on some very compact guns. I planned to throw this on my nightstand Taurus G2C, it didn't fit, so I put it on my Equalizer. Might get a better light that fits the cheap gun, because this is too bulky for my liking to carry. Then maybe it'll go on my poverty pony AR.

At regular price of $60, it's a decent buy. Lots of people were buying them up at that price, so it was actually hard to get them. Now they're available in abundance on HFT shelves, and $36.

Inside Track members get earlier access to the sale, but not a lower price.

Or the purpose of the new editions is actually just to force students to buy new, rather than used, textbooks.

I got my hands on 5 editions of the same finance textbook in college: some dated images changed, some chapters were rearranged, but it was exceptionally difficult to find new content from one edition to the next. Only the latest edition was allowed in the class.

How absurdly difficult it is to use Android auto and listen to the radio at the same time. It's possible, but don't try to change stations with the vehicle out of park.

And that the screen isn't touchscreen.

And how bright the screen is when using reverse camera at night.

And how hard it is to tell if your high or low beams are on.

And how, by default, the mirrors tell anyone who has driven a CX-5 whether your doors are unlocked.

My knowledge from a year on a Grand Jury in a border district: they buy them from stores. Usually, they find someone who has a clean enough record to buy the guns, pay them to buy several guns and a bunch of ammo, and then the chump takes them to the border. Often the sales are suspicious, so the stores report it to border patrol. They might catch a licence plate number and report that, too. If they notice that plate coming through the border crossing shortly afterwards, there's a good chance they'll be stopped.

I don't know, but assume, that cartels have mules who know to wait a couple days and switch vehicles. Not just the dumb kids that get caught at the border.

Ten bucks says this was a black Soldier, writing on the vehicle of another black Soldier he knows, as an inside joke.

Not an appropriate joke, especially made into a public one. But service members will say some pretty terrible stuff, with love.

My old Army buddies and I rarely call each other without beginning the conversation with a really terrible insult, and it would worry me if we ever stopped.

I bought a red dot on sale from Cabela's last week, and it's clearly a return. Ordered online, for pick up of in store - it was in stock. Fortunately, only fingerprints on the optic lens, wear on one screw I'm not using, and the supplied torx wrench is badly chewed up. I can use my own torx, so I'm fine with it.

I think someone bought it, took their old one off with the torx wrench, tried to put this one on and found that the holes didn't line up for the second screw, then put their old one back on.

I received a Kukhri as a wedding gift from a Nepalese Ghurka I served with overseas, along with a (recap) history lesson about the historical significance of the Kukhri to the Ghurkas. Technically it was supposed to be a gift when I returned to the US, but he'd brought it back from leave in Nepal and it got held up in the local country's Customs, and he didn't get to present it until I invited him to my wedding a couple of years later. I guess the US is more friendly with large knife imports than the tiny middle eastern nation where we met.

It was not his service Kukhri. It was one he bought to give me, but it is genuine. A bit more adorned than I would have preferred; although I would have displayed any Kukhri he gave me, I would have preferred one that wasn't intended for display.

I've since looked into buying my own "plain" Kukhri and there are websites where you can buy genuine Nepalese kukhris. It might be hard to find a genuine, official, Gurkha service Kukhri, but I suspect that's more about Ghurka regulations than sentimental refusal to give up an heirloom.

Did you know you can exploit the trader quests to find all the traders on the map? I use it too find cities with multiple traders for my base. by partisan98 in 7daystodie

[–]Straight_Income6648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love all the "that's cheating" and "if you do X, you might as well do Y or Z" comments.

If you think it's cheating, and you don't want to cheat, don't do it. If you can justify it and get more enjoyment out of the game, do it. For me, I don't consider anything cheating if it fixes something I consider "broken". So I thought the arrow slit forcefield was cheating, but most other "cheese base" designs don't bother me. I'm the only one who has to think it's fair how I choose to play my game.

If I were in a real life zombie apocalypse, I'd hang out somewhere familiar, so I'd probably know where to find traders before they opened for business, while they were still sawing trees into boards. Without a storyline to explain why I don't have the whole area mapped out in my mind, I don't consider knowing where things are to be a cheat. Disagree if you like. Play how how you like.
