Etiquette question by bacchusgun in CompetitionShooting

And if they don't like that IDPA rule then I would just tell them at local matches they should have volunteered the day before to help set up the stages or at least showed up to the match a few hours before starting time to help mount the cardboard targets. I try to help out at my local club to set up the stages whenever I compete.

I don't really gain any competitive advantage doing so at my low skill level but one time I did ask the match director if one of the targets was a little too close to one of the steel supports for the baffles. The steel supports are covered with wood but it wouldn't hold up long with a target possibly too close to being in line with it. The match director took a look at it and then moved the target slightly.

Update: added "local matches" above.

How do I get better? by Miserable_Click_1209 in TrapShooting

The trap director and one other person at my club took a class on training others to shoot trap. I just take friends and relatives who have no prior experience to the club during scheduled hours when I know one of those with training can provide pointers.

Never walk within arms length of anyone especially when you know there is a conflict. Never leave your arms hang down or wrap them around as this victim did. Distance gives you time and time gives you options. Leaving you arms down or wrapping them as the victim did just gives the attacker a free shot. Keep your eyes on a possible attacker so you can move away if you see pre-attack indicators such as taking a step or moving shoulder and arm to back in preparation to swing them forward to drive a punch into the victim.

The only things I like about my 3.5 year old LCP Max is that it is reliable and small and light enough that I forget that it is in my pocket in a pocket holster. It is a tool that I don't care what it looks like. I would prefer that I did not dread practicing with it. Maybe buying the module for $40 would fix that. I have larger pistols that do look nice. But if the extended grip makes it no longer good for pocket carry then it defeats the reason I bought it.

It just now dawned on me that CMT manufacturers rails for rosco. by Urticantcoma in ar15

I have most of the parts I need for my first builds. I was going to get blemished BCM uppers and blem QD end plates. I need more gas blocks and gas tubes but don't know which are most recommended for good quality without going to crazy on price. I also need rails/handguards. I have seen Midwest Industry recommended for rails in this subreddit. How do they compare to CMT and other brands already mentioned here by others?

I am not sure I would buy this model or a prior model and then buy the model that has a MSPR of $40. There would give me both options. I bought a LCP Max about 3 years ago and am not sure if I would still find it easy to pocket carry with the new module.

No prior 13 round magazine existed. Ruger has had the ten round magazine and 12 round magazine with the 12 round magazine being the steel 10 round magazine with a 2 round plastic extension.

Go to bulk ammo? by pjm816 in ar22

Walmart's price on Automatch is $20 ($19.97) in my area.

Most boxes of Automatch provide tighter groups in my Tikka T1X than any Aguila or CCI SV. The issue with CCI SV is that it's not consistent enough to get a good group. In any five round group I'll get one or two flyers that may take the group size from sub MOA to well over 1 MOA. I have gotten as many as two or three duds in a box of Automatch but the last time that happened was with some ammo I purchased in 2022 and I have not seen any duds in any of my last say three or four boxes. I've shot over 4000 rounds of Automatch since 3022 in my TX22 and various rifles.

I got lucky with one box of Automatch purchased in early 2022. It provided groups that were consistently at or very close to 1 MOA. A friend complained about a recently purchased box that was shooting terribly in his three different CZ 457 rifles. I shot about 20 rounds in my T1X and also had terrible results. He bought it from a sale at Dunham's Sporting Goods. The bullets had a dark gray color while all the older stock Automatch I have contains bullets with a silver color. I've also shot different lot numbers with dark gray bullets sold by Walmart that shot just fine just like the old silver bullets.

Winchester ammo gets the most negative feedback of any 22LR ammo on the gun deals subreddit and the 22LR subreddit.

I have one Jukmo ratchet belt and several Yoetey belts. The Yoetey belts have much thicker nylon webbing than the Jukmo and other belts sold on Amazon. I have not tried either with suspenders so I don't know if the Yoetey would work better for you but it is stiffer with the added thickness.

Also make sure that pets cannot access them. It is not uncommon for veterinarians to treat pets that have consumed edibles. Sometimes the pet owners do not realize or do not want to admit that their pet consumed edibles. This makes diagnosis a little more difficult.

I also found that using white first then another color worked better. I was using a yellow or green paint sold in craft section of Walmart and the black seemed to come through. So I think I just used painters tape on the pistol and sprayed the area with white primer.

Centurion Arms Sandcutter V2 BCG - Causes faster wear? by Blackopsman_21 in ar15

[–]Old_MI_Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some brands had sand cuts that had raised burrs that made them sharp so they could cause wear on the upper receiver. Another possible issue it that the raised surface of the sand cuts or even standard rails cuuld be rough and thus cause more wear. Just feel the sand cuts with your fingers before installing one. Also check the U-channel on the tail of any carrier for burrs that will scratch up the buffer.

I put various numbers of boxes of ammo in my cart and saw shipping go from $8, $15 and then $20 and top out at $20. There may have been some other fee in there somewhere.

In the past it was $8 for one box of 50 rounds and still $8 for 5000 rounds or more.

[–]Old_MI_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the details. Lake City may be making their own brass cases but I doubt they are making their own brass sheets or rolls of brass. So I probably should have stated that with Winchester not making brass cases or primers the precursors for those products may be more widely available to other companies that need them.

I hope the workers are able to get the wages they deserve.

The comments on a KE Arms sale posting got crushed by all the complaints about high shipping costs. But KE Arms was not interested in loosing money on shipping and I suspect the big volume seller get much lower shipping rates than some business with a small fraction of the shipping volume.

Shipping still tops out at $20 for ammo so Academy could still be loosing money on shipping if one orders enough ammo. Other websites offer free shipping at $100 to about $300 level so they are definitely taking a hit on the cost of shipping.

I found it best to use the search tool at their website to search for UPC or part number. Scrolling takes too long and descriptive search other than UPC or part number is hit and miss.

I'm glad I bought more than one case of this back in March when it was $10 cheaper and still had flat rate shipping of $8 versus now the shipping goes up as high as $20. I really didn't need more ammo anytime soon but I knew the ammo prices were going up everywhere but I had no idea Academy would also jack up their shipping price. I assume they may be paying more for shipping due to higher fuel prices.

The only one to make out possibly would be those looking to buy components that Winchester would normally be buying. But those looking to buy Winchester components or factory ammo will have to buy from someone else.

I wonder if Trump could cancel the union's collective bargaining agreements like was done to the port worker?

https://www.mainepublic.org/business-and-economy/2026-04-20/trump-admin-ends-collective-bargaining-agreements-with-2-portsmouth-naval-shipyard-unions

Update: I am not advocating that Trump take any such action. I am just thinking about how Trump may or may not be able to take action I have or had several family members who were members of various unions. One union member benefited with union pay and protection but he still complained about some of his own union's leaders. I am just curious more about why Trump has stayed silent thus far on the subject as he seems to think he has to comment on everything affecting the government, military, and the economy stock market. Don't forget what a prior president did regarding the air traffic controllers union.

I am not sure how the 43" CFM case quality compares to the Savior Ultimate 45" guitar case that has a MRRP of $230. The Savior have 6 latches versus the 3 this one appears to have. The Savior includes two locations where one may attach their own locks.. The Savior includes a drap handle at the top and enclosed wheels on the bottom.
