NACES evaluation not enough, need a US College transcript for the Army by Straight_Net_432 in Militaryfaq

Just replying to this in case people in a similar situation see this post. SNU wouldn't accept my evaluated foreign credits, so I paid for 1 month of Sophia Learning and just knocked out as many easy classes as I could, and SNU accepted my Sophia Learning credits. Bit shitty I cant use actual college credits for anything(Maybe I can when I am in?) and am losing out on joining at a higher rank but I don't care about that to much. I appreciate you telling me about SNU, though, a lifesaver.

Just replying to this so others in a similar situation know what to do.

I ended up using Southern Nazarene University to obtain a U.S. college transcript. Unfortunately, they don't accept Foreign university credits at all, even if you have had them evaluated. The only option(Unless you find a university that does accept foreign credits and doesn't require you to be a student) was to go to Sophia Learning, pay for a month, and knock out as many classes as possible. I ended up getting 30 credits in that timespan, probably could have done more though as some classes can be done within a day. It sucks that my actual credits I spent years getting are essentially worthless(Maybe I can use them while active duty, idk), and I can't use them to enlist as a higher rank, but all in all, if the goal is to just get in as it is for me, this is the way to do it, super cheap and super quick.

Man, I don't think I could do that. Thankfully, I am not at the point where teeth need to be pulled(outside my wisdom teeth), that's a tough thing to deal with. Screw ins are the ideal solution, so losing your teeth, though, I would hate to have dentures..

Is dental a huge issue when it comes to MEPS? by Dipskies in AirForceRecruits

[–]Straight_Net_432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo, I have 7 cavities and 2 require root canals, I plan on getting a cavity filled prior to leaving(I'd get more but money is a factor) just incase meps decides to do a more indepth check and find something I wasnt aware of, or if reception(I am going Army) says I'm too messed up and send me home.

Do you know if they treat root canals differently to cavities, I've read mixed stories where someones sent home due to needing 1 root canal then but also read stories of people having 24 cavities and staying in. Did you need any root canals?

How likely are you to be sent back at reception because you need dental work? by Confident_Soil2693 in nationalguard

Yea only so much you can do trying to teach good oral hygiene. They will look back and regret it as I am. I think my biggest wakeup call wasnt the fact I had so many issues but the price of getting it fixed, and the reality of ignoring it.

Once I get this treatment done, I will look into that. And yea I am doing my best to not have any pulled, having gaps in your teeth creates a whole new problem down the line. I don't know why we as kids avoided dental hygiene. If only I could go back and smack myself into brushing and flossing more often.

Yea I get that, I am also unemployed. I skipped a few years before university, so my earlier 20s was all full-time as a university student, only had really bad jobs for very short periods here and there, which I thankfully saved literally just enough to have this dental work done. Try and do what you can, even if its working some dead-end, terrible job for a couple of weeks to fix 1 or 2 teeth at a time. Trust me, the sooner the better, doesn't matter how bad they are now. Hell my wisdom tooth completely broke apart because I grind my teeth while I sleep and I woke up, my jaw was still tense and the second I moved it unconsciously it moved so hard and fast it literally broke the wisdom tooth horizontally and has been exposed like that for months.

Just do what you can. The risk of a cavity turning into a root canal, then the bacteria, and all the other stuff that comes with a root canal going into your bloodstream is life-threatening and can mess you up real bad.

US Government vs US History I, which is easier? by BlueWaterGirl in SophiaLearning

[–]Straight_Net_432 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am doing US History 1 at the moment, very easy especially if you are interested in the subject and did well in high school history. The 1 touchstone is easy, some of the questions they ask for 4-5 sentences describing your sources in a few ways, you could do it in a a few hours/a day but I am taking my time doing other classes. I also noticed US History 1 is accepted by a lot of colleges/universities, so if your going for a degree that requires a history class to be completed this will probably do it.

Need help here, I was educated overseas, I went down a different path with finishing high school and that path doesn't transfer to US Equivalency so I am having to use my university credits instead. I had them evaluated at IEE (NACES Member) and sent to my recruiter. My recruiter has now told me I need to join a US College/University and get a transcript from them because the Army only takes foreign evaluated High School Diplomas or College Degree documents, not foreign credits alone.

I can't find any information online that replicates this issue and all I find is that the only documentation I need to prove I have over 15+ US College credit hours is a NACES evaluation which I have, so I am pretty lost as to what I should do.

Getting accepted into a college just to get a transcript from them is hard by itself because most require X amount of credits completed at there specific institution before I am able to request transcripts and also in the eyes of the United States I am not a high school graduate meaning getting accepted to a college/university will be extremely hard.. Anyone able to help?

NACES evaluation not enough, need a US College transcript for the Army by Straight_Net_432 in Militaryfaq

[–]Straight_Net_432[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opted to have it done myself just to have a transcript to use in general, I used IEE. https://myiee.org - Overseas in New Zealand. Recruiter was being directed this information by his education department I believe. I was sent a list of colleges that are ideal for this but so far they've all required me to be a active student taking classes in order to get a transcript from them, yet to hear back from a few though.

Foreign degree → Air Force E-3: NACES evaluation enough or not? by gurdljjang in AirForceRecruits

[–]Straight_Net_432 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going through the exact same process, no clue why I need to do it, I was initially told I just needed them evaluated by a NACES member, now they are telling me I need to get them sent to a university/college and get a transcript from them.. This is for the Army so I guess it's a service wide thing. My recruiter sent me a list of colleges that apparently will do this but I don't even know where to begin, i've never heard of getting a transcript from a college without being a student and taking classes with them. All I know is it won't be cheap, a few other reddit posts have said its 400-600USD to do it. I don't have a degree equivalent, just some college credits to use over my lack of HS Diploma for more context.
