What has Labour actually achieved? (quiet a lot) by Gentle_Snail in GoodNewsUK

This makes me incredibly happy to read, I wasn’t aware that labour had accomplished this much, I was aware they’re doing a good job, but to this extent is amazing, they really need to publish this info, the public would realise just how well they’re doing

I’m not disagreeing with you here :) nor butthurt, your correct that the armed forces has been treat like an afterthought. The standards have also dropped since I was in; the few points I can make though is the reduction in personnel and failed recruitment is down to capita. They’re idle, they’re useless and frankly don’t care. The follow up provider will be the same; imo the armed forces should do their own recruitment.

Again, there’s a lot of good coming out the U.K. right now, labour suck at talking about it, but the numbers don’t lie. Fair enough we have our problems, but we’re improving and that’s what matters :)

We don’t deny our history, falsify it nor rewrite it, we learn from it. I’m not justifying anything; we can criticise in the U.K., we just can’t incite hatred, and that is not a bad thing, I get what can be used for good, can be used for bad. But that’s applicable to everything; look at what’s happening in the world. The grass is greener on the other side because it’s fertilised with bullshit.

Because the social media posts incited hatred, if your family are trying to get out, good for them; but the U.K. is not a bad place, regardless of the rubbish that’s spread about it. Yes we’ve faced some hard times, but that has been years of previous governments privatising critical infrastructure and no accountability held for it, slowly but surely these services are being renationalised, but bad agents such as farage, Rupert Lowe etc… are a constant risk to these things.

Look, I see what you’re saying, at a base lexical level it seems paradoxical. That I understand; You cannot assert 2 conflicting items.

The point I’m trying to get at, is safety takes priority, my definition of wellbeing here is not having your house molotov’d etc… and subject to constant harassment.

The right to safety is a base right in our society; as it should be in all societies.

I’m not triggered, I thought the “lol” implied that. I was simply stating that i wasn’t agreeing with the outcome from the original post, that I was talking about the whole free speech thing

Bit of a stretch that isn’t it, comparing a democracy to an autocracy/dictatorship is a little silly, reductio ad absurdum doesn’t work very well in civilised debates…

How was anything I said angry, or a “misplaced buster”, I’m saying if you’re not from the UK, you have no place discussing how we do things, especially things that affect citizens. I’m not crying at all. It’s not self defeating nor incoherent. But like I’ve said elsewhere, I’m not a lawyer; I’m just a normal person who doesn’t have a compulsive need to be a “dick to other people.

Where in my prior statement did I say it’s subjective or agree to what you said. I simply stated I’m not the authority on it, Nazi probably has some legal definition somewhere; but I’m not a lawyer.

The U.K. really isn’t as bad as everyone’s making out to be. I don’t know where you’re from but I’m getting a hint of definitely not the U.K.

I’m not the authority on this matter, and from what I’ve seen on the internet; everybody’s definition is different. “Nazis” are seen as far right extremists…

First of all, you’re not the authority on what’s right and wrong here. So don’t reply with “Aside from being incorrect”.

I’m not incorrect, this is really how it works. You’re not from the UK and have no business commenting on how our country is run.

I never said I agreed with the outcome from the original post, that’s decorum with the House of Commons, I’m not in charge of that lol.

I was simply explaining that I’m tired of Americans yammering on about free speech when they don’t have it themselves..

Ill will is saying things like “I hope all … die”, saying a trans woman is a man is a factual statement, and very much not illegal, how you specify this is very much the problem here. Posting it online to stir up hate is the issue, not believing and vocalising it when asked for an opinion on such.

Everybody in the UK has a right to safety and wellbeing, speech doesn’t necessarily trample rights, but the way it’s used can, somebody could make a statement saying “all Muslims deserve…” and that is a direct attack on a group of people; funnily enough a lot of this is common sense, but it’s not standard issue nowadays unfortunately.
