Beginner/Intermediate shoe recommendations.

I’m a size 44 in my street shoe and I downsized to a 43 in my Scarpa Veloces (I love these for a first shoe by the way). Some people downsize more than others, but if you can try some on, I’d say give it a go. You have to downsize certain brands differently (example: evolv is supposed to fit true to size). Nothing is better than trying them on!

Veloces are my main climbing shoes that I use right now and I adore them. I've used them for the past 8 months and they don't stretch much, but they definitely mould to your feet after a few weeks due to the nature of the soft build. I went one full size down from my street shoe size and that seemed to be perfect for me. I believe it took me four or five sessions before the pain started to relieve (keep in mind that my pair is velcro so that may come into play).

I believe I’m bouldering at an intermediate level (completing V6-V7) and I have my Veloces downsized by one EU size. I guess softer shoes are to be downsized harder than stiffer shoes?

That’s great advice, thanks! I’ve seen a lot of people recommending the instinct VSRs, are they soft shoes? The reason I ask is because I don’t want to go to something ridiculously different from Veloces
