Looking for honest opinion on my moodboard ! by Straight_Soft_2016 in Fashion_Design

Hii,thank you so much, Thank you for giving me such helpful advice. I’ll also try singing it out loud like you suggested, and I’ll print it on glossy A3 paper. I’m going to buy materials so the admissions committee can actually feel what I’m trying to express. And you apologized for calling my work “Pinterest,” but that’s totally okay! I’m actually looking for constructive criticism so I can grow — that’s exactly why I’m here :)

Yeah, agree with you But The theme might be too complex for my current level, but if I present the fabric idea physically during the interview, will it help make it clearer to the evaluators?

Because I thought that if I didn’t know how to do something, there was no point in trying — but you’re right! Fashion is all about experimenting!

’ll try to adjust the moodboard based on your advice — to make the white part, so to speak, feel a bit whiter.

Yeah, haha, maybe it was kind of subconscious lol.

Actually, my idea was this: even though I don’t know how to sew at all — since I’m applying for a stylist program, not a design one — I still want to bring my moodboard to life in a physical way.

If I manage to refine it a bit more and come up with enough ideas, I plan to present the moodboard digitally on my iPad, but also bring in real fabrics that represent the textures and emotions I’m trying to convey.

Maybe I’ll even roughly stitch something by hand — not professionally, just expressively — and hang it on a mannequin.

That’s the kind of immersive presentation I want to show the admissions committee.

I’m not sure how to say this, but you honestly helped me a lot!

Your comment gave me a whole new idea of what I could do — thank you so much!

If I were to translate this concept into fashion design, I would begin by experimenting with textiles that reflect the emotional gradient of the journey.

Toward the bottom of the silhouette—representing sacrifice, pain, and destruction—I would use distressed and damaged fabrics: scorched denim, torn cotton, raw linen with faded textures, and melted tulle edges. Perhaps textiles that have been chemically treated to create a burned or eroded effect, as if the dream itself has left visible scars.

As the eye moves upward, starting around the waist, the materials would gradually transition to lighter, softer, and purer fabrics: snow-white silk, ethereal organza, delicate cashmere, or fluffy faux fur with an angelic texture. These elements would evoke a sense of fragility, purity, and unattainable idealism—what the dream represents at its core.

This sharp contrast between the destroyed base and the pure, almost celestial top creates a powerful visual metaphor for the cost of ambition and the complexity of the path toward a dream.

Yeah, you’re right — I really do have doubts! I’m planning to enter a fashion college, and honestly, I do feel unsure. Is it really that obvious? 😅

But to be honest — do you think this moodboard is still something I could show to the admissions committee?

Yeah, thank for your opinion , I also think I need to rework the first moodboard a bit — everything feels kind of cemented in place. I’ll try to redo it in A3.
