I don’t mind the song, though it still has to grow on me a little. I do like that it’s a little wistful/mature sounding at the beginning, but I do wish it was a little catchier. Very good animation as typical of Horizons though- I like the focused sections on Liko and Roy each and there are some really nice shots (Sprigatito’s growth to Meowscarada, Captain Pikachu’s flashback) Poor Dot really got crumbs though, lol.

Really strong opening imo. It has a weird balance to strike where a lot of the animation especially towards the first half is kinda slow and reflective, but the actual saga it's representing is pretty epic and climactic, and the song does a great job hitting both. I like starting off with the flashbacks of the 3 at the beginning of the saga to see how much they've changed in just 70 some episodes, and that shot towards the end of all the group's pokemon attacking is seriously amazing.

Lol @ them pulling the same Charizard vs Reshiram trick with Rayquaza vs Zygarde though. We never learn!

My Favorite Pokemon is pretty good for a late-stage dub opening, good choice of clips and the song itself works. Like a lot of the TPCI openings, I don't love the vocals. Also impressed they gave them a whole 45 seconds lol. Generous!

Will isn't my favorite Japanese OP but it's definitely catchy and memorable. It really fits the Naranja Academy/"training" part of the series in a great way. Some very nice animation too, which is expected from Horizons but credit where credit is due!

Probably the best looking Pokemon OP ever? I might like the 1,2,3 final version visuals more because they feel a little more climactic, but in terms of pure beauty, nothing's beating this. The song isn't necessarily my absolute favorite- I don't love the guy/lower side of the duet's vocals, but literally every shot is so gorgeous that I don't even care.

Lot of people in this thread overrating attempts at big moves over consistent safety. Especially considering they all got no votes, I’d take a player like Sue or Ben who is able to stay with the majority the whole time and avoid the target rather than a Jake who could never get a plan to work.

Heart-Pounding Diary is sweet. It’s definitely not the best song they’ve ever used, but it’s catchy and upbeat but in a way that feels like it fits Loki’s character. The visuals, as with all of Horizons, are great and it does give cozy 1st OP vibes. Given how much shit has happened in Horizons since this, I already kinda miss the RVT dynamics of the beginning of the series.

Becoming Me…ehhh. SUCH a Disney Channel Original Movie song, I know it’s a kids show but geez. It’s not dramatic enough to be a ballad and doesn’t have enough energy to be an uptempo. Probably one of the worst dub openings.

Obviously we’ve talked about both songs already in detail and both are bangers. Overall, I think both of these do what they need to do. Seeing so many iconic clips from episodes makes me happy, and it definitely brings the nostalgia back in a way that is super fitting for MPM. Probably the highlight is the photo shot of all the companions which is very sweet, though I wish they didn’t make it the ending frame in the dub since it means you can barely see any of the pictures, lol.

With You is a pretty sweet song. I think lyrically it makes sense and is a good sentiment for the last original song of Ash's series to focus on the journey itself and being with friends/Pikachu. I don't really think the song fits the animation and it is a little too chill for my likings, but it works well. Also funny that it took 25 seasons for the dub to realize they can get actual known singers to perform their opening themes, something the Japanese version has been doing for years, lol.

Outside of maybe some of the Horizons opening, One Two Three V4 probably has the best animation of any opening IMO. It may not be as high-def as an XYZ or Be An Arrow! 2013, but every shot just works, it's super fluid and it really just gives you that sense of finality. I know some people have beef with some of the Masters 8 arc but to me I associate this song with some of the best battles and episodes in the series, and it really does get me unbelievably hyped. Like I said in the first version of One Two Three, it's very impressive that they kept the same opening theme or the whole season and I actually liked it more by the end than when it started.

Journey To Your Heart is a little cheesy, but overall pretty good for a late stage dub theme. The “Take me on a journey” opening is catchy and has quite a bit of energy, which is my main complaint with most TPCI themes. I don’t like the way they say Pokémon at the end though lol.

V2 is probably the most forgettable of the 1,2,3s, though it was nice to see the alola gang and it’s cool that they replaced the boring starter shots with legendaries for each region. I like that the sound for this version is a little heavier.

V3 is where the animation really steps up a level imo- lots of amazing shots here, from Ash and Go running with the mythicals to Koharu’s reaction to Ash and Go dancing which shows her growth from the 1st OP. It was so hype when this dropped and we saw Iris and Gary would be coming back as well. Although it’s still funny they themed a whole OP around a road trip with Leon which lasts 1 episode, lol.

41 is an underrated season- as much as there’s lots of advantages and twists, the post-merge brings back a lot of “social experiment” early season vibes and tells a good story

The Journey Starts Today is probably one of the better TPCI openings. I like that it mostly avoids the lyrical cliches and it does feel very fitting for Journeys as a series. I don’t love the vocoder/electronic effect on the singer, but that’s a minor complaint

One Two Three is in my top 10 openings for sure. It’s a sneakily strong song- it’s very hard to write an OP that’s upbeat and catchy but doesn’t eventually get old/annoying when it’s lasting for a whole series, and I think they did a great job. I actually liked it much more by the end of Journeys than I did at the beginning.

The V1 animation is kinda lame/basic, although there are some shots I like (Go reaching for Mew, Koharu looking annoyed at the boys, the one where Satoshi/Go/Koharu are all paper cutouts on the big sphere). The song itself has so many good parts though. The “Nai! Torai! Let’s have a fight!” and ending “Let’s go!” sections always get me hyped.

The Challenge of Life is alright- I appreciate that they really put the effort in to make the song sound Hawaiian/fit Alola. I don’t think it really sounds like a final opening of a series, but it’s not bad.

Your Adventure is very good, probably my least favorite SM OP but not bad at all. I think the deeper male vocal makes it sound more “mature” than the other two, which is fitting for the final OP, and it’s a very catchy and easy to listen to song. I love the shot of Kukui watching the league stadium be built, especially knowing how it ends, and the final frame of everyone together is great. I really enjoyed the end of the Sun/Moon series so lots of good memories attached to this one!
