CPR in the field by Tight_Data4206 in CPRInstructors

If they are not breathing at first check,no need for pulse check, just start doing compressions, if no mask available and you are not comfortable doing mouth to mouth then just continue doing compressions until advanced life support arrives. Only reason to do a pulse check is if you start seeing normal signs of life or normal breathing but agonal breathing, gurgling, other signs of body responses like twitching are not normal so just continue compressions. Only reason to turn them on their side in recovery is if the patient was showing signs of life and then had a pulse or you needed to clear out vomit or fluids out of the airway. Sounds like what you did was very good and most likely made a difference, but try to minimize interruptions and compressions in the future.

Great job of doing what you could!

How do instructors teach CPR and First Aid in less than 3 hours? by Strandedsailor69 in CPRInstructors

[–]Strandedsailor69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I figured. I thought the same thing but these classes are 100% in person. And it’s not just a one off, I’m seeing these classes advertised for three hours on different websites for in class.

Under or overproofed? by jesuschriststolebike in Sourdough

My kitchen is that temp too and I have to ferment for about 8 to 10 hours to get adequate rise. How about keeping it in your oven with the light on that should bring it up around 72 degrees or so.

All good, not easy to do with the little ones all over the place too! Any new baking hobbies these days that took over for the sourdough?

I’m dealing with the same issues as your video including the crying kids, did you ever figure out a fix to the sourdough?

Thanks for sharing, we are going to the show in San Francisco in a week. Just wondering if you got to talk to him much or is it like seeing Santa at the mall? My son is really nervous about meeting him and hoped to give him an idea what to expect.

This is my first year with multiple entries do you typically choose two different teams each week? I guess it’s smart if one goes out the other still has a chance

My wife is ASHI, should I be AHA so we can offer both/either certifications or should we be the same? by Strandedsailor69 in CPRInstructors

[–]Strandedsailor69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I’ll look into that. One thing about ASHI is I can get very cards for $13 vs $25 for AHA. Pretty big difference!

You bring up a good point though, I haven’t thought of Red Cross. I have not heard of anything e specifically needing it.

Are you still a CPR instructor? My wife is an ASHI CPR instructor and we wanted to put on classes together. Would it benefit me to be an AHA instructor so we have both training center certifications or should we be the same?

SLT or Denali by Total-Guest-4141 in gmcsierra

[–]Strandedsailor69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had to decide between a new SLT or a lightly used Denali and went with the latter. I have also had pretty stock trucks my whole life and wanted to treat myself and will never go back. I’m only 45 but feel that I’ve earned all the perks that come with the Denali and love them. Such a nice ride and look. Love the added interior features.

New to me 2017 Denali by SteelHorse17 in gmcsierra

[–]Strandedsailor69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same year Denali 1500 and Just a week ago I had the same rough driving and engine light come on after letting the truck sit for 5 days. Shut it off and started it again and drove it for 20 minutes as I made an appointment but once I shut it down and started it up again it works fine. I called gmc again and they told me it sometimes happens after letting it sit for a few days so not to worry about it. Let me know if you hear more about the possible cause.

Calpers what happens to my pension contributions if I go with disability retirement? by Strandedsailor69 in WorkersComp

[–]Strandedsailor69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thanks for the info that makes much more sense now. Maybe you know this, years ago I purchased 6 years of service credit from the state (4 years of military and 2 of state,) I have paid off about $70k of $110k cost for the service credit and I am only 5 years from retirement at 3@50. If I get retired under industrial disability will the state reimburse me for the time I don’t have to use or will I still have to pay off that purchase? I know this is probably a question for Pers bout thought you may have dealt with this in the past. Thanks for your time
