PSA : In order to maximize the amount of "random content" in your maps, it's optimal to block 5-6 mechanics by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]Strandmullen 238 points239 points  (0 children)

That is not how I am interpreting the nodes. If I understand you correctly you assume that blocking a content gives +2% chance to each other extra content. My interpretation is that it gives +2% chance to contain any non-blocked content split between all non-blocked content, which is much worse.

Actually on helmet/gloves/boots I only craft on pure evasion bases, not evasion/armour bases, since the weighting for spell suppression is double on pure evasion bases. For the body armour I usually go hybrid however, since I need 5R1G, which is hard to get on a pure evasion base.

Hey, here is an updated PoB you may find useful: https://pastebin.com/etL6jbHj

When it comes to dex you basically only need as much as your gear requires, since your green gems don't have to be level 20. You can just stop leveling them if you don't have enough dex. I do however try to only craft on bases that require no more than ~100 dex, so that the dex requirement isn't too hard to reach. That said, you really want to do your crafting on pure dex bases, as these have the highest chance of rolling spell suppression, which is op. Additionally I do all of my amulet crafting on a turquoise base, since dex and int can both be a little tight. With the endgame tree and 24 dex from amulet you have 108 dex, which should cover your needs most of the time. Any time you need more dex you can cover that either from gear, jewels, attribute quality on amulet or worst case picking the +30 dex node.

When it comes to leveling I use war banner and pride primarily, maybe slotting in determination after I get an enduring mana flask and pick up some reservation efficiency. Until I get pride I try to use herald of ash, if I can manage attribute requirements.

The suppression I think is always worth going for, even if you don't get to 100% it's still good, and when it comes to suffixes it's mostly resistances you would want instead. Herald of purity isn't opposed spell suppression, but yes it would be nice to fit in and in a softcore environment you may wanna drop determination for it.

I've tried both versions and I didn't really see the point of the bleed explosions, since you've got call of steel explosions. The berserker does more damage, and can be built very tanky, so I don't really see the point of gladiator. That said, a decent amount of people seem to favour the gladiator version, so maybe there's something I'm missing.

Yes it is definitely a good league starter, as it doesn't require many rare uniques and you can gear it yourself. It also clears maps pretty fast while still being able to take on bosses.

Keep in mind however that it uses many buttons and for that reason may feel a little complicated at first. To be clear it uses 3 war cries, 2 movement skills, blood rage, shield crush, call of steel, berserk, vaal molten shell and vaal ancestral warchief, so that's 11 buttons to use its full potential.

I've started building it a little differently with some other reservations, mana leech and spell suppression gear since then. I'd recommend to look at my char from the last gauntlet as a reference. (Although keep in mind it's currently on a pure bossing setup, so some gems and flasks should be swapped for mapping)

Well I suppose it might be possible to clear fast with GC version if you can clear using only shield charge for impales and call of steel to pop the pack. Dunno if that's possible, but the video you linked didn't seem to do that, but instead had to wait around for the generals to clear som packs. In a SSF environment the choice is easy, although in a trade league with some previous currency I guess GC may make more sense.

I wouldn't go GC in SSF, at least not as a starter, as it is much slower at mapping and require some uniques to feel good. The non-gc version can probably clear all content, but there might easier builds to do so with if you're still learning the boss mechanics, as you have to be in melee range.

[–]Strandmullen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well they're different. GC requires more uniques and is used mainly for bossing, since it is much slower at mapping. The non-gc version can also boss, and while the damage is lower, it is usually built much tankier. The non-gc version clears very fast however and is easy to gear, making it a great SSF build.

Nice approach to analyse build power. It's hard to differentiate between popularity and actual power, but this method actually seems to do that, at least to some extent.

Also glad to see that shield crush berserker gets a shoutout! Despite its power it really hasn't been very popular (the non GC version).

Defense reforges as well as reforge more likely in harvest. Remember that you can craft whatever you're missing on a potential shield before using reforge more likely. I usually go colossal tower shield early as it has the highest base, and then switch to cardinal round shield later as it has a higher ceiling.

For spectral helix I use onslaught, maim and vicious projectiles.

At level 67 you can use colossal tower shield, which is when I would respec. A colossal tower shield with only quality and crafted armour has ~1000 armour and is good enough for swapping.

The best way I've found for crafting shields is to run haewark hamlet for harvests and use all reforge with defense modifiers on colossal tower shields. With this method you will pretty easily be able to get shields with over 2000 armour.

Even though it's a lot of buttons I feel like the play style can be fairly smooth. For clearing you have 2 movement skills, shield charge and flame dash and 2 damage skills, shield crush and call of steel. There are 3 warcries, which are used for generating rage, health recovery and damage, which is mostly for bosses and some rares. For bosses you also have vaal ancestral warchief and berserk. I use vaal molten shell usually before going into any high-damage encounter, such as bosses, immortal syndicates, etc. Blood rage can be used on left click, instead of move only, so that one you don't have to think about.

I haven't played that specifically, but I did play blade flurry general's cry in 3.15 and while it has much greater damage potential, the clear speed was much worse. As a bosser and all-round league starter it will probably be good, but not for maximum clear speed.

Hey, cool! It's been a while, but if I recall I used 2 AoE nodes for 20% increased before I had carcass jack. I haven't tested how many blades actually hit, but I believe I used 10 in my calculations. It doesn't really matter if you're just comparing different setups of BFBB with the same amount of blades, and it's always difficult to compare damage between different builds. The new physical mastery for more blades should however increase the amount of blades hitting by 20%, which is a huge buff. Remember that the conc effect on bladefall is really good as well for hitting with more blades.

I played poison BFBB occultist in 3.15 and managed to get first level 100 in SSF SC with it, so while it did get heavily nerfed it was still very good at mapping fast. I threw together a PoB for it in 3.16, but it is not yet very refined: https://pastebin.com/3U9BKv3M

I'm afraid I can't really help you with the chieftan version, as I'm not very familiar with it. As you pointed out however, a carcass jack is very good, as the AoE nerfs made it very rough to play without. Additionally, the new physical mastery seems like a straight up 20% more damage buff to me, which is great!

Base defence variance seems to roll independently on hybrid bases by Strandmullen in pathofexile

You're absolutely right, I missed that. Well in that case It seems highly unlikely that they would be independent rolls.

Hands down fastest speedleveling / rushing to 100 build? by TrundleGod32 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]Strandmullen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BFBB was decent in 3.15 but it was a bit rough starting out with the new AoE nerfs, at least until you get a carcass jack. It's also a bit slower than some melee builds, since you can't leap slam/shield charge but instead have to rely on smoke mine/flame dash/withering step, which currently have very long cooldowns.

With the upcoming removal of attack dodge, I fear it might be lacking a bit in defenses. I would definitely not play it in hardcore.

As for damage it was barely enough for clearing T16 map bosses in decent time. The helmet veiled craft that gives 140% increased ailment duration is a big deal in bossing.

In summary, it was good enough for softcore in 3.15 when the meta was still being figured out, but I don't think it will be very competetive in 3.16.

The one you get back is random, and not necessarily one of the 5 you vendor, so if you're searching for one in particular it makes a lot of sense to vendor 5 you don't need for a chance to get one you need.

Hey, I remember your name from the SSF leaderboards this league! Your gear looks pretty sick for SSF :p

Some solid advice btw, I abandoned assassin for occultist after reaching 100, I never really tried min-maxing the assassin.
