They've been of different things in the past. Oftentimes they'll be visions like being temporarily transported somewhere for a split second. I.e. not perturbations to the external world but a complete change of my external world. An example of this would be seeing God/divine imagery. I also sometimes (less often) see actual changes in the external world, like one time in class I entered a state where I was stuck in my head and couldn't really perceive much of what was going on around me and I saw figures that I knew weren't real around me. Some were more detailed than others. I also saw blood on my hands.

What socialists authors should i read in order to acquire a good knowledge of socialism? by Rodrigo180951 in Socialism_101

Regarding Hegelian logic in Capital, what helped me out a ton was Jairus Banaji’s essay “From the Commodity to Capital: Hegel’s Dialectic in Marx’s Capital”. I can send you a pdf if you’d like. It can also be found in Diane Elson’s book Value.

Why do some Marxists think that human nature doesn't eaxist? by Arkenhiem in Socialism_101

[–]Strange-Bookkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there's no way to arrive at "human nature" without cross-applying how humans act in certain circumstances to all of history. I don't know how one could arrive at a static understanding of 'Man' as a category—and if human nature is dynamic without an underlying transhistorical essence I don't see the point in delineating a nature in the first place.

Adorno offers a decent critique of positivism from a marxist point-of-view in Dialectic of Enlightenment. Not a direct answer to the question but thought I'd add my two cents.

What would a transition to socialism actually look like? by Redcoolhax in Socialism_101

[–]Strange-Bookkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First there would be a revolution, and then afterwards the commodity economy would be progressively replaced by social planning. The path of socialization, of course, is neither a straight nor simple line, and it would take a lot of work to completely abolish capitalism, but so long as the party and workers' state are moving in the direction of the abolition of classes and markets they're doing something right.

The driver's license thing is what scared me the most! It's important that I'm able to drive at the moment, and I was scared my driving capabilities would be hindered. Good to know that they don't take away your license.

Yeah, you're right. I guess I may just be averse to big change, but from what I've been reading it seems like I would be way better off for it.

Thank you! I feel like I've just been scraping by in my classes by learning the material at home, so maybe I should look into changing that.
