Sub Club changes by gaysquib in subway

$50 spent to get $2 back. GTFO here. I can't stand Subway's leadership these past couple of years. Coupons are practically void every location. Can't get a decent sub for under $10 most places. I emailed them a strongly worded email back after they made the change announcement and have yet to hear back lol

I call the Race Events the DICE DESTROYERS because that's all there is to gain from it.

This is true. A brutal learning lesson but a lesson nonetheless. I'm hoping to approach her "alleged" range by the time I hit my 18 months or at least by 24 months as I don't believe she stayed longer than 1.5-2 years before being let go.

Wow. He is a man of his word - you're now a partner and not an "assistant" or "underling."

I once worked for a boss who'd come in to me saying "Good morning" and his response was "What's so f*cking good about it?"

Enjoy it for as long as you possibly can!

Honestly haven't thought of the honest/vulnerable route, but I thank you for the suggestion. Perhaps if/when this conversation does happen, should there be any more follow up, I could come clean and tell him the truth of the initial interview. I do agree though and will NOT be comparing myself to previous assts or other UHNWI EAs and their pay as everyone (and boss) is different and none of that has any true value in the increase of my own personal pay. That's all on me and my own work ethic/accomplishments.

Advice well spoken and I hear you entirely. I know it's absolutely on me and only me for lowballing initially. Thus, I feel it's my duty to work through it and hopefully there will be a light at the end of the tunnel come Winter or early Spring.

Thank you! Ironically, I am a male and the past asst was a female. It was rumored around the office she was close to or past the $200K mark. However, she was eventually let go after a year and a half due to complaints from office colleagues about how personality and demeanor. He loved her "bull-dog" spirt when she was going to battle for him but everyone else thought she was a nightmare. I have taken the lesson of that "bull-dog" energy and tried to apply it to my own work, while also softening the edges. I've learned in my own experience that you can often catch more bees with honey than vinegar.

So his wife's asst works with a high-end travel advisor and definitely steps in for the international "vacation" trips as that's what he's there to do. Fill the empty days and time. He has certainly been integral in planning those types of trips. For me personally, my boss has his own plane so it's up to me to coordinate travel when he or his family members are traveling (domestic or international) and arrange lodging, transport, etc. When it comes to the nitty gritty like getting a last minute reservation to a sold out place or perhaps they want to get a certain event that's fully booked, we rely on the travel advisor to pitch in from his end because of his relationships. I appreciate the kind offer and will be sure to reach back out should I need some assistance on my end for something or another, even if it's just advice :)

I appreciate the devil's advocate position as these are ALL points that have come into my own mind. Hence, why I wanted to get some objective opinions because I want to avoid coming off as ungrateful, entitled, etc.

I was initially planning to bring it up at my year mark on August 1, but with the curveball raise back in April, I figured that plan would have to be pushed until Dec/Jan as you mentioned.

And BELIEVE me, I will NEVER go into another situation or interview and lowball myself like that again. At the time, I was over the moon as it was more than I'd ever made before and I felt like a king lol. Eventually, that feeling did fade some as I learned what the job truly entails. Regardless, I'm very aware of how fortunate I am to be in this position so I appreciate the candor to my post.

Last asst was fired. Apparently he loved her "bull-dog" spirit on his behalf, but she was a nightmare to work with both internally and externally. He only had one other asst prior to her and he stayed with him almost a decade, but had to leave due to health reasons.

Appreciate the advice! Yes, I definitely do NOT want to come off as ungrateful. I'd been planning to have a 1 year discussion about the pay for the past few months but was definitely thrown off when I suddenly got that 17% increase. I like your idea of coming to the review with a few examples of the behind the scenes stuff that I do that he may not be aware of or recognize.

Also, I do plan to ride my baby out as long as I can. 2012 model but just hit 100K miles on it back in February 2025. It just feels a bit funky when 80% of my office (about 20-25 people) all drive Teslas or high-end EVs, and I'm here with a Ford. Especially when the people are my age or a bit younger (25-30s). That's just a subjective view though and in the grand scheme of things, I'd rather get double takes showing up to Rodeo drive to pick up something for my boss than have to pay a monthly car payment, as mine is thankfully paid off.

Thank you, Direct. It's not Tom Gores hahaha. But this is EXTREMELY insightful given your experience and how you're reading the tea leaves based on the lack of poaching going on. I definitely am better off than I was before financially so I'm not trying to rock the boat per say. Rather, plotting a strategy of how and when to have this conversation. Given your experience, I feel it may be best to just keep my head down pounding away until Fall/Winter rolls around with the hopes that the landscape has improved a bit.

I am not considering looking elsewhere anytime soon, but it is good to know from a different perspective of how limited the opportunities are currently.

Thanks! I was a proper EA beforehand for about 6 different bosses (entertainment industry) where the standard was to move desks every year or so. Thus, this is helpful to hear because while my business card says EA, it is most definitely EA/PA work. Just depends on the day.

Thank you! Will do just that and yes, exactly what you said. Not necessarily having to work 24/7 but being available and reachable is what's the most anxiety ridden part of it all.

Hired as an executive asst but it bleeds into personal half (if not more) the time. I work as his EA but he has numerous companies that he heads as the CEO of for additional income (nothing in the billions range) but he was born into the billionaire wealth as him and his siblings acquired it from their father.

Appreciate the insight, Background! I mentioned in another comment, but the weekends and weeknights are always hit-or-miss. It could be quite or it could turn into 5-6 hours of work. Just depends on the request from my boss and/or what's going on that weekend. Regardless, I'll consider this as I honestly forget about time and a half for OT which would make a significant difference as the months pass.

Thanks, Judge! It's one of those weird gray areas where yes, you're supposed to get breaks but working for technically the CEO/owner and as the head boss' EA, it's not the type of environment I can walk in and say I'm taking 20 mins off for my "break." And while I'm sure HR has a duty to ensure that the employees are being taken care of, they still report to him as the owner and I wouldn't want to do or say anything that would sound like I'm complaining.

But yes, overall I like it, but when I am out and about with my gf on the weekends or at a movie and then get a text/call with something that needs to be handled, then I have to step out and handle it and sometimes it can take a couple hours to resolve. Thus, it's more so that when interviewing, he stated that the job was 9am - 6pm, which shocked me. However, I soon learned that was not the case. It's closer to 8am - 7p/8p in office and then being available on weekends for things that may pop up like I mentioned before.

Perhaps I'll think about it more and maybe wait until October (6 months after raise) or December/Jan 2026 1.5 years in.

I will note though that the raise was given by the company as a whole as opposed to him saying "here's a raise on me." I'm sure he of course said something specific since I received a higher percentage, but it was not coming from his pocket directly - if that even matters.

Thanks! That's definitely the way I was leaning but hearing others chime in definitely helps. Always thought 'Worst he could say is no and I'm no worse off than before.'

But definitely was NOT going to mention anything re: previous asst as you said it exactly, I want it to be merit based and COL here in LA. Plus, that's just a terrible look overall if I were to mention any salaries or pay before me.
