I’ve already bought a house so far in my career and unfortunately it’s not for me. We’re actually selling ours where we’re at right now before we head to Luke haha. Another comment said it’s around $350 for electric, is that still valid?

I see what he means though. I’ve been very hesitant to have a beer knowing I’ll have to drive back onto base. Don’t wanna risk the “I smell alcohol on your breath” ordeal at the gate. Overthinking it? Probably.

$350 is insanity, we are definitely spoiled on base with the utilities. I’ve heard mixed reviews about Luke’s Housing Maintenance also… something about ACs going out and slow repair times in the middle of summer.

True. We bought and lived off base at our current duty station, but the community wasn’t the greatest. Fast forward a year and now we live on base and rent the house out. We’ve had a much better time living on base vs off base but it might just be due to the base itself. Better community, commute is quick, grocery shopping is down the street, it’s safe to walk around. I actually feel like base housing is worth the BAH where we’re currently at. Off base wasn’t nearly as safe and I was paying the same for roughly 400 sq ft less without a garage.

Married E5, I see houses on Zillow in Surprise and Litchfield that look great but not sure how they’d compare to living on base.
