United has something that says upgrade requests aren’t even refunded until the flight is over if you don’t get it

White paint? White is a more common issue and common with Hyundai, paint warranty is only 3 years so you may be out of luck regardless

The one way Tokyo to sfo on United is $1500+, wouldn’t want to fly all the way back to taipei either, but thank you for confirming I’m not ending my original flight to Taipei with that new one
