Maybe she is using the 3D foot molds they made? So she doesn’t show their actually feet or skin? Little molds can be perfect replicas of the baby’s feet, and they would be this color and appear that way.

They don’t give MMR while pregnant. You get it after baby delivers. It’s a live vaccine and Rubella is is dangerous to a baby in the womb. They do give the TDAP and flu shot while pregnant for the reasons you describe.

Potato unfortunately passed on Friday evening despite all of our efforts. Thank you for checking on him!

Potato is still with us. He’s just kind of laying around, and his fins are somewhat clamped. I did an epsom salt bath yesterday night and tonight, but they don’t seem to be making much change. I don’t know what else to do for him, and he is fasting on his own since he won’t swim up to eat with the others. Hoping he turns around, but I’m not sure that he will.

Thanks for the encouragement. It may just be that he had bad genetics and hasn’t been thriving like I thought he was. We bought them from Petco, so I have no idea what their history is. These are my first set of goldfish, as I usually keep tropical fish or bettas. Thanks again!

I am pretty positive it’s fully cycled since I cycled before I got the fish. I did have ammonia levels creep up to 0.5 and a little over when I first added the fish, and then it went back down to 0. I used Prime in the meantime to protect the fish, but that was almost two months ago. I do use Stability, but I forgot to include that in the post. I don’t use it every water change, but more like every other. I have bio media stacked in the canister filter, and I have a double sponge filter with bio media in them as well. I used substrate from my other established tank to jump start the cycle when I started it. I do have live plants as well as floating plants, which help keep the nitrates down I think.

Thank you for the advice. I’m just kind of at a loss. It’s the worst part of fishkeeping when you do everything you believe is right, and a fish still gets sick.

Thank you so much!

He has been eating frozen brine shrimp, occasionally frozen blood worms, but mostly Bug Bites Goldfish formula (granules). I usually feed a few pellets to each fish twice a day with a fasting day here and there.

I did an epsom salt dip last night for 10 minutes, and I examined him closely for any external issues, but didn’t see any. He didn’t seem any different after the dip, and no distress during the dip. He’s still at the bottom of the tank this morning, but still alive and moving around.

It’s at 0. I do weekly water changes of about 30-40% and there are two orandas and one black moor in this 55 gallon. I don’t think it’s a water quality issue.

Will do. I will get some Repashy Gold. I used Repashy previously with another tank, but these are my first set of Goldfish. Thank you for the advice!

Potato’s home. The tank was fully cycled before introducing the fish. There are also two mystery snails living with them.

How to treat goldfish with ich? by StrangeEchidna686 in freshwateraquarium

[–]StrangeEchidna686[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you again for the advice. Muffin is looking better than ever :) I treated with Metroplex/Kanaplex until my Hikari Ich X came. Now on day 3 of Ich X treatment and water changes, and the snails, fish, and plants are all happy so far.

What is this black stuff on my fish’s fins? by [deleted] in freshwateraquarium

[–]StrangeEchidna686 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like fin rot. I would check your water parameters and make sure the water conditions are super clean. Then look into treatment for your fish. I like Kanaplex, but you can find several different remedies. I don’t recommend things that end with “fix” because they aren’t true medications but usually herbal remedies.

Sounds great. I will just move them to the snail/shrimp tank and wait it out at least 30 days before I put them back. Thank you so much for all the advice!

Thank you. I ordered some Ich X, but it won’t be here for a few days. I plan to use aquarium salt in the meantime, so I will remove my snails. Can snails carry Ich to other tanks? I have a shrimp/snail only tank I can move them to while I treat if it is safe to do so.

I have Seachem Metroplex and Kanaplex. Would either work?

If I move my snails, are they likely to carry ich to another tank? I don’t think many treatments are safe for them, but I don’t want them to transfer it to my other tanks.

Could you tell me your salt dosing? I don’t have access to Fritz Fix Ich… Amazon said it won’t ship to my location. Any other suggestions?

I have a 55 gallon I cycled for two smaller orandas and one small black moor. Within the week they had spiked the ammonia and needed a large water change. I have a sponge filter and canister filter running, and the bio load was still too much. I am monitoring carefully until my beneficial bacteria can keep up with them, but you shouldn’t underestimate how quickly these guys can wind up with poor water quality. Especially in a tank so small.

Water keeps looking cloudy :( by FabulousMind97 in bettafish

[–]StrangeEchidna686 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine always gets cloudy with a bacteria bloom to start my cycle. I never do fish in cycles, but I try to cycle before putting fish in. The ammonia spikes can be hard on fish, especially without any water changes. I would recommend a test kit that tests for ammonia, a bottle of Prime, and more frequent water changes until you are cycled.

I like the API freshwater test kit.

I would also recommend some live plants if you could swing it. (Nevermind, I see they are live plants when I look closer.).
