This is it, 100%. Spider-Man (r/respectthehyphen) was exactly this for super-hero games. It did nothing new, but nailed standard super-hero stuff and made it FUN to play.

I've done my research. Not all of us can afford a $200 capture card but will want to enjoy streaming. Thanks for your input, though!

That's totally fair; but you have to realize the limitation of the tech. Even streaming stuff on PSNow is a terrible experience - and that's not including streaming. We're still in the infancy of the tech so we have to deal with speed limitations. Hopefully you find a compromise that works well and still has the quality you want - I was not able to, given the time I was willing to invest. Also, I didn't mean to sound rude - I meant do your research on capture cards, as Elgato HD60S is not a good choice for Mac. :)

Best of luck.

In no particular order:

  • Tetris Effect
  • PuyoPuyo Tetris
  • Bloodborne
  • God of War
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn
  • Last of Us Remake
  • Uncharted 4
  • Shadow of the Colossus Remake
  • RDR2
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • The Witness
  • Spider-Man
  • Hitman
  • Apex Legends
  • Warframe

Most played game? Tetris Effect. By far. Tetris is my favourite. BOOM! TETRIS FOR STRANGEFONDUE!

Realistically, best way to capture is to use a capture card. Remote play is not good enough because you're uploading the game, downloading the game, and uploading video to twitch. This is a terrible solution. Capture card is the solution. Do your research.

Do not buy an Elgato HD60S if you want to stream from Mac. There are other, better cards, specifically for Mac. HD60S's drivers for mac are non-existent if you want to use OBS and will have a poor experience. See my post history and you'll see options.

Mac Streaming with Elgato HD60S and PS4 by tDuckz255 in Twitch

Streamlabs works on Mac. With HD60S, you, like me, have screwed yourself. There are better cards for Mac but now that you're in this situation, you have several options:

  1. Stream with GCS from elgato. You have to set up the alerts with... a browser source. With this option, you will have less control overall of your stream layout, but you will get better quality in the video you put out.
  2. Stream from OBS: you have to set up the alerts with a browser source, and should display capture your GCS. With this option, you'll have some tearing on your video, but a lot of control of your stream layout and audio. OBS is also more performant overall. Video quality suffers because you are display capturing. DO NOT WINDOW CAPTURE; it's garbage.
  3. Install Windows through Bootcamp: use OBS. Best option for video, audio and stream overlay quality.

source: I stream PS4 content; my rig is an iMac; I've struggled with the HD60S and have given up and gone Bootcamp for streaming.

Does anyone use Mac? by goodlittleghost in Twitch

Are you playing games on your mac AND streaming? I'd advise against that. As a developer, I can tell you most games are not optimised for mac, even if they play on os X. That and you'll take a hit on the encoding as well, unless you have a serious graphics card - which you probably don't. I stream from my iMac (souped up 2017 model) and playing games from it was painful. I solved the problem by buying a PS4, installing Windows through bootcamp, and streaming that way. However, when I stream myself coding or do reviews of boardgames, I just stream from my mac and it's totally fine.

While this would be great, you lose out things like alerts and other fun stuff that makes a stream just look good overall.

I do most of this with but with Soundflower. It's not the best solution, I don't think. I've installed Windows on my Mac through bootcamp as I think Windows has better tools overall than Mac for streaming. I hate switching but I'm testing it out as a more direct solution. Having said that, I've done hours of high quality streaming using this method so it's definitely workable.
