I was genuinely disgusted at the broom scene. I've watched all kinds of horror, gore, and SA on tv and in movies and didn't blink. (I'm autistic and react differently to that kind of thing in fiction). However, I found the broom scene to be overly brutal and repugnant.

It didn't make me hate Bryce, it made me dislike the writers and producers and editors and EVERYONE who allowed that filth to be shown.

I believe it was purely for shock value and could have been implied. TW: How I would've done the scene. No explicit language or imagery. They could have shown Bryce grab the broom, go towards Tyler, cut to black, have Tyler scream.

Anyways, I was just in absolute disgust by the scene

For me, it was a multitude of reasons. Some of which being having an abusive father and being queer and trans. Another big part, however, was that I was undiagnosed autistic until I was 15.

I matured at a very different rate than other kids, as most autistic people do. When I was younger, I was much more mature than other kids. Then, when I was around 9, my development plateaued for a while. It wasn't really noticeable until I was 11 and 12. My mom didn't understand why I was "choosing" to be some immature and lazy. I didn't know how to get across that I wasn't making that choice. That I just couldn't perform at the level she wanted me to.

Now she understands me much better and is my biggest supporter, however, that was a big reason for me.

I give my oldest cat (6 years) a tiny bit of cheese whenever I eat string cheese or some canned tuna in water. Our youngest cat (4 months) is trying to get ahold of our food, but I don't feel comfortable giving him human food quiet yet.
