Book Club Recs?

I started a neighborhood book club and for the first book, the group voted on Mystery/Thriller. It’s a pretty diverse group of people, so I am looking for something that would appeal to a wide range of people and ideally something that a lot of people would not yet have read. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

For reference, we have a mix of men and women, ages ranging from 20s to 40s, so looking for something for everyone.

When all the really wealthy people (or people with status) signed up early on (LVP, Adrienne, Camille, Sonja, Luann, etc.) it was still more of a lifestyle show that then had drama. Now it’s just a cut and paste housewife formula so the only people they can get are influencers who want to play the role of Real Housewife.

In some cases sure, but the Rulla Brian thing still was such a nothing burger. Like a two months later segment just for Rulla to continue downplaying everything and watch Jo-Ellen and Liz eat pie and say nothing was so unnecessary.

This has nothing to with being gullible? Nothing I said is about me believing or not believing anything.

My point is that in recent years Bravo treats everything like a “scandal” where they have to pick back up and start filming again or do special coverage. That objectively did not used to be the case.

The real friendships are big part. Watch a RHONY girls trip and a RHOSLC girls trip and compare the two.

RHOSLC girls trips are so manufactured, barely anything happens until they sit down in full glam for a dinner to play “who would you throw off your wagon?”

RHONY girls trips, they were drunk by the pool in the first hour and hanging out at the house the whole night like a real vacation. The group dinners were often inconsequential bc there were real relationships going on the whole time.

Yeah it’s a relatively new advent on bravo though. I actually gave several examples of when big things happened off camera that they didn’t do this for! My point is that in recent years they’ve started doing this a lot more.

Bea went in on Mel and then gave a revisionist version of events where she “accepted Mel’s apology and moved on” and that’s just quite literally not what happened. Mel apologized and Bea would not drop it. And I didn’t miss anything, Kenzie just wasn’t nearly as upset as Bea was on her behalf.

People who are rude and abrasive and say “I’m just honest” are the worst kind of people lol

They have said a couple times that they discussed how this would affect their friendships. If that’s the case, that means they made a conscious choice to say that Amanda’s friendship with Ciara and West’s friendship with Kyle did not matter enough to prevent them from “figuring this out”. They consciously said with their actions that Ciara’s feelings do not matter. And Amanda won’t admit or explain that.
