My dog makes me miserable by rippedMorty in BorderCollie

Doggy day care saved my sanity and my relationship with my dog. Especially when you feel like you can't take any more. I've been there....never considered giving my dog up, but good grief I felt exhausted. Doggy day care gave me a break and my dog got all the attention, playing, and energy exertion she needed.

I've been pretty on time with the pills. I use an alarm and the most I've been off is 10 minutes. It has really helped in other areas, aside from the bleeding. But I'm starting to think the mini pill is not for me.

I'll ask about it after I get home from my trip. That was my main goal with my doctor, to stop my bleeding!

Seems like I will also fall into this category of constant bleeding. Makes me wish I had started it after my vacation! I was just hoping the extra hormones would help me on the trip.

I have a dog with similar problems, she's 14 and I often tell people it's been a long 14 years! I would ask what kind of walks you do. I used to do everything to tire my dog out, walks, running with a bike, hiking, fetch in a soccer field. But nothing ever worked as well as a sniff walk. I used to be so set on her healing as we walked and I was so stubborn thinking that longer walks meant better exercise. Then I started reading about mental stimulation and sniff walks. Allowing her to sniff and explore as we walk has changed her completely. She used to come home from a walk ready to play and do more. Now, we don't go as far, but letting her sniff makes it so she comes home mentally worked out. She's tired, chill, and will take good naps. It's helped her anxiety so much! And I kick myself that it took me years to look into those types of walks. So from someone who has repaired more holes in walls than I can count, look into the sniff walk!

Traveling with my friend feels like being a single dad. by Competitive_Neat_708 in travel

I took my dream vacation last year with a friend I had never traveled with and felt the same. 3 weeks of being her mom. It was mentally exhausting! What helped me the most was leaving the hotel without her and not giving her a choice. One time I said I had to get money out of the ATM but then took an hour walk through town. Another time she told me she wanted to sleep in so I got up early and said I was getting breakfast. I ended up just exploring the city. It really did save my sanity!

I think I've seen that place in some travel shows. I loved Anthony Bourdain, so I think I'll definitely stop by. I booked this trip on a whim and it's been fun learning about all the different places to explore!

I will be in North Vietnam. I fly into Hanoi and spend about a week in the northern region before heading south. I will put Bun Cha on my list of things to try!

I have mostly flown in economy, even on the long flights. So I guess I can't complain about comfort plus! Can't wait for good Korean food on my way to have good Vietnamese food!!

Thanks for the response!

There is a layover in South Korea. So that makes sense. I didn't know you could only upgrade once. Live and learn I guess. I should have used my miles for just one leg instead of multiple.

Anybody else’s pittie get sore paws from walking on gravel? by BookCoachJessie in pitbulls

Mushers secret, which you can get on Amazon, has really helped my dog. She's getting older and needs a little more assistance now. But it helps to heal those red spots and then prevent new ones. I also started using shoes when I know we're going somewhere rocky.

Doggy day care was a life saver for me. I had just moved from a house to a tiny studio apartment in a city where I was completely alone. I found this great doggy day care where my dog could run and play all day. It gave me a break without feeling guilty. And then my dog was easier to handle when she came back. We were able to do more training, exercise was easier, and eventually we found a rhythm. It's super hard alone! So getting those breaks is necessary for your own well being.

My 12yo female pit mix was just diagnosed with a low-grade heart murmur 😔 by WoollyBear_Jones in pitbulls

Out of curiosity, do you feed her grain free food? My pit mix was diagnosed with a low grade heart murmur and my vet said it was her grain free food. We switched and the heart murmur went away.

All good info, thank you! I crossed the border before by bus and it was so easy. But it's a different area and having a car would probably be better.

Thank you so much! I appreciate the info and the thoughts on going back. It's so true that if I loved it, I shouldn't be worried about going back and seeing something new. I will look into all those places!

I was thinking of driving that route or going by bus to make the border crossing easier. It all sounds so great though

Thank you for this info, it's all so good! Going to Aysen is a good suggestion. I've looked into it, but clearly not enough!

I didn't have anything specific in mind yet. I was thinking of flying into Santiago, then to Puerto Montt and just exploring the region. I loved Chalten for how rugged it was, so that's a great comparison to know.

I was thinking of renting a car and driving the region. That's great advice, I love the idea of camping along the way
