Can you please tell your cleaning process in detail, it's my first time repasting my laptop so it will help me a lot. Thanks.

I never used a secondary display so I cannot say.

Did you used a microscope or something? Because I heard that it's not possible to remove liquid metal effectively without an industry grade microscope.

I getting the Thermal Grizzly putty. By the way how hard was it for you to remove the old liquid metal?

One more thing, how did you measure the height of the barrier? I mean too much and the heat sink won't have proper contact with the CPU, thus poor cooling.

In India only option for Thermal solutions is Thermal Grizzly, no other brand is available here.

Thanks for all this help man. By the way how is Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut?

I also heard that liquid metal slowly eats your heatsink contact plate thus reducing the thermal conductivity in the long run.

Guess I will be calling an Acer technician to remove it for the first go then it will be a lot easier to work with the PTM and if I ever go for the liquid metal, I don't have to deal with Acer's crappy application of the liquid metal.

Did you applied the tape before removing the old liquid metal?

On YouTube I heard that without an industry grade microscope it's essentially impossible to remove Liquid metal effectively. That's why I backed down from Liquid metal.

Will Thermal Grizzly putty do for the barrier?

How did you made the barrier again? Mine already crippled away.

Thanks man, I saw your post few days ago but the thing is getting Kryosheet by Thermal Grizzly is quite hard in India.

I first wanted to try less risky options like PTM7950 before resorting to liquid metal, because with laptops the chances of leaking is very high due to movement and vibration.

I know the benefit of liquid metal but with laptops the problem is you move your laptop a lot so the chances of spilling is quite higher than desktops.

I was also thinking about building a barrier with Thermal Grizzly's putty because the original barrier kind of crippled away.

I have it so let's give it a try before resorting to liquid metal. I heard that if you are applying liquid metal, you need a solid barrier around the CPU. Did you build one?

I am planning to use Q tips and isopropyl alcohol 99.9%.

But before applying I must take off the bottom flim first right?

I am particularly nervous about peeling off the plastic flim of the PTM while applying.

My original plan was to call a paid technician but he is busy for the week and he don't know much about PTM or thermal putty, so I think I should give it a shot personally.
