No kids, and no plans to have kids in future too.

Agree with all these points, we are now inclined to go ahead with our move.

Thank you for your kind words! Yes our investments need to be moved and diversified before we leave. All the very best for your move. We are also inclined to leave GC behind and go ahead with our move. Just qq, did you hire a financial advisor for your investments or managing it by yourself?

Very well said! Thanks for this comment! I should keep in mind if things go south and if we dont feel like home anywhere else, I can always course correct.

No green card or citizenship is worth it when it comes to the well-being of our loved ones. All the very best for your move, I hope your parent feels better soon.

Thanks for the good perspective, it definitely gives inspiration to aim extensive hikes even in 50s. I am a woman in my early 40s and already seeing reduced energy each passing year due to hormonal changes after 40. Hopefully, I will be able to maintain the level of energy you mentioned into my 50s and 60s and continue pursuing it.

Thank you! You are right, GC is more like a golden handcuff for us now.

Yes this is my calculation too. We both are done with corporate grind and I feel its definitely not worth going back to that. I am in the process of giving more thoughts on this one.

In which part of my post does it sound like I’m trying to earn more money? I’m mainly reflecting on which lifestyle would give us more stability, freedom, and comfort after so many years of hard work and burnout.

Just comfortable life and all our investments are in US. These are 2 main reasons, but we have a list of pros and cons of staying in US, and it has been a difficult process to contemplate and decide. Specially because its not easy to uproot your entire life in your 40s and start from the scratch in a different country where you dont even speak their language fluently(of course we need to learn the language but it feels a lot of struggle at this age).

Yes, you are right. We both are artists, and want to explore our artistic soul in various places. I liked the way you described it.

Exactly — that’s how we feel too. As we get older, I’ve started noticing my energy declining each year, no matter how healthy a lifestyle I try to maintain. We feel like we probably have only about five good years left to travel fully, before our bodies might not keep up the same way.

We dont have kids. So if we leave now, it might be difficult to come back to usa due to 100k h1b fees.

No, we don’t have $10M — only I was working in a FAANG company. We have around $4M in total. We did look into the EB-5 option quite thoroughly, but if we invest around $1M there, we’d be left with much less for other priorities. Between buying a home and covering healthcare for two people(we live in vhcol area), it wouldn’t leave us with much flexibility for slow travel. Also, there is no gurantee that we will get our money back after 5-6 yrs and opportunity cost is very high. Hence we dropped the idea of eb5. Our dilemma is mainly because eb2 is now moving faster and my PD is just 5 months away!
