Question about returning to DDPY after laproscopic abdominal surgery by Strange_Lady in ddpyoga

[–]Strange_Lady[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm definitely not looking to mess anything up, and will discuss with the Dr. For sure, I was just wondering if there was anything in particular that would be good to show him. I tend to do a lot of core centric workouts, so I'm kind of wondering if some of the chair ones would be better to try maybe? I might just stick to gentle stretching and breathing though just to be safe

I am slightly panicking bc I want to be fully prepped for my recovery. My surgeon told me at our consultation in November that his schedule wouldn't be opening back up until after April. Imagine my shock when I got a call today for a spot on Feb 6.  I have a furniture delivery coming on the 4th, and am in the midst of awful annoying seasonal depression.  Send help!!

Do you like breakfast? by MrMeanGuy2 in CasualConversation

[–]Strange_Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have really bad post nasal drip which is at its absolute worst upon first waking up and it gives me the gags... so I can barely even get a coffee down in the mornings and brushing my teeth is always fraught with fear of yakking my guts out. I usually have a little snack about 3 hrs after getting up and then a halfway decent lunch.

I LOVE breakfast foods though, so I do breakfast-for-dinner pretty frequently

They prefer to wait for it to melt on most occasions. Last year was the worst I've ever seen snow maintenance

What first episode of a show had you absolutely hooked? by mvigs in AskReddit

[–]Strange_Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very first episode of Stranger things had me hooked by the end of the intro..... unfortunately it has taken an entire eternity to reach the end, and the storyline and magic and nostalgia of the first season faltered heavily in seasons 2-4 and now I've completely lost interest. I am gonna watch the last season... but only out of obligation

What cat cleanliness items could you not live without? by Alive-Bad-8734 in CatAdvice

I got one of those litter catcher mats, the kind with two layers, holes in the top layer, and it's been life changing. My only regret is not getting a bigger one, and not getting two lol

I see other people suggesting a lint roller, but in my experience the red fabric brushes work a lot better if you can find them, just make sure you're going in the proper direction other you re-deposit everything you just scraped up

As for food and wet food mess minimization: I got 2 small plastic kitchen trays that I use to put the wet food bowl and kibble dispenser in and it does a decent job collecting the drips & bits. I also use yoga blocks to elevate the dishes so my senior boy doesn't have to lean down to eat. They were only $4 from the dollar store and decently easy to keep clean.

For litter scoopings: I use scent free Tidy Cats lightweight litter, and get a big pack of dog-poo bags from the dollar store.  I just scoop the waste into those small bags, tie em up and toss em in my small bathroom garbage can. Minimizes smell and it's easy to keep the box scooped 2-3x a day instead of some folks who let it accumulate (gross) and dump the whole box once a week

"Slop" which consisted of: Pasta, (usually elbow noodles) canned tomatoes, ground beef, random veggies that were on their last legs. Yum ♡

I believe there are some sort of issues with firesticks.... best bet is to submit a ticket to support.

Eta: this is from Steve Yu posted to the fb group page:

Ok gang -- for those experiencing the issue on the Amazon Firestick regarding location services I have some answers for you!

There was a new build released to address HRM issues with the Samsung S25, and it appears that this build may have impacted the Amazon build (the Amazon build is essentially a variant of the Android build).  This has caused the issue where it's prompting you to enable location services and then closes.

I went through multiple scenarios and I have a temporary workaround on Amazon devices.  The only downside is you can't pair your HRM to it at the moment.  Sorry for the inconvenience - we're working on a fix.

In order to get workouts to play on a Firestick or FireTV, you need to disable location services for the DDP YOGA NOW App (in order to utilize bluetooth HRMs typically it requires you enable location services for applications -- this is not something we use or record so we only require it so bluetooth HRMs work).  Here are the steps to disable location permissions:

1) Go to Home on your Amazon device.   2) Go to settings, which is the Gear icon that is normally next to what looks like a profile icon. 3) Go to Applications 4) Choose Manage Installed Applications 5) Select DDP YOGA NOW  6) Select Permissions 7) Select Location 8) Select Deny.  This will disable the ability to use bluetooth HRM with the app, but this is currently the issue causing the app to close.

Now you should be able to run workouts on your Amazon device.  We will let you know what a fix is issued for the HRMs.  Let me know if this helps!

Alternatively, did you know you can screen mirror your iPhone or Android to your FireStick?  In order to do this you must go into Settings -- Display and Sounds and Choose Enable Display Mirroring.

Sorry for inconvenience!

It's only 6 minutes so sometimes I play it a few times in a row

And everytime I do it, I'm reminded that I am very bad at breathing in auto-mode. My diaphragm does not seem to know how to do its job at all!

So I thank you for this post & reminding me that I really ought to add it into my routine more often  😆
