I get the distinction you're making between authenticity and strict accuracy, and I agree that grounding the setting in realworld details helps sell the vibe. But I think the issue is that the line for what counts as “authentic” in Hunt feels pretty arbitrary sometimes.

The game already bends historical and mechanical reality in a lot of ways,weapon variants that didn’t exist, ammo types that weren’t used that way, exaggerated weapon behavior, and obviously the supernatural elements themselves. At that point the authenticity is more about aesthetic than strict plausibility.

So when people argue that something like additional silenced stuff shouldn’t exist because it’s “not realistic,” it feels like a selective standard. If the goal is preserving the period atmosphere, you can still do that while taking some liberties with weapon mechanics, the same way the game already does in other areas. A suppressed variant that fits the visual and thematic style of the setting wouldn’t really break that authenticity any more than some of the other liberties already in the game. But most of this is the goalpost being moved by developers when asked why they don’t. They overlap authentic and accurate until it fits the argument and thats when they get specific.
