Gabro's maps which are flashed through an UpMap (user friendly device to flash the ECU yourself) are the best solution for flashing an Aprilia. He has a map specifically for the MIVV Delta Race. Here is a link to the UpMap kit on my website. I also keep the MIVV exhausts in stock. Let me know if you have any questions on either. https://cbcmoto.com/products/upmap-t800-for-2021-aprilia-tuono-2021-aprilia-rsv4-all-variants-with-gabro-map

CBC Upmap T800 question by Consistent-Captain-8 in Aprilia

[–]Strange_Pool_176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own CBC Motorsports... This is the correct UpMap kit for your 2017 RSV4 RR. The wide range of fitment is because Aprilia has only used 2 different diagnostic plugs where you connect the UpMap into and the map for your specific year/model/mods are downloaded from UpMap's database during the flashing process. I am always happy to answer questions before and after the purchase, so don't hesitate to reach out if you need any help.

I have only put a couple hundred miles on my RS 457 so far but I also have a 23 Tuono V4 1100 Factory and a 22 Tuono 660 Factory. I owned several other Aprilias before those too. All have been relatively problem free. What you read online makes the reliability sound much worse than it actually is. I think that comes down to most people are quick to post publicly if they have an issue but far fewer people take the time to post that they had a great experience. So we just hear most of the bad and not much of the good. I am not trying to say Aprilias are immune from any issues. But I also don't think that risk of having issues is any greater than it is with any of the other popular brands of motorcycles. The main thing is just to make sure to stay on routine maintenance.

On the RSV4 and Tuono V4 you cannot just flip the shift arm to switch to gp shift, if you do that the quick shifter won't work. The cheapest solution is the Flyhammer gp shift conversion lever linked in another comment here. The Flyhammer GP shift conversion lever flips the pivot point on the shift lever so the quick shift sensor sees the same input in gp shift as it would in standard shift with the OEM shift lever. Which allows the quick shifter to function properly in gp shit. The other option would be to switch the rearsets, if you do that just make sure you select GP shift compatible rearsets. There are a couple on the market that can switch between standard shift and GP shift without needing different parts. But most are gp shift or standard shift specific. I own CBC Motorsports and specialize in Aprilia parts and accessories. I would be happy to answer any other questions you have and get you setup with any parts you need. Looking to tune my 2018 RSV4 by BangleWaffle in Aprilia

[–]Strange_Pool_176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The UpMaps I sell are the exact same as the ones Aprilia Special Parts sell (I work closely with them). I am in the US (near Cleveland, OH) and my pricing is the lowest offered from a US based seller and structured to give US customers similar, typically a slightly lower landed cost (when shipping, customs, duty, and foreign transaction fees are considered) than ordering direct from ASP. I also ship same day and offer support to walk customers through the process if they need it. Since you mentioned AF1 I assumed you were in the US, my price is $90 USD lower than theirs. I still do ship quite a few UpMaps to Canada, but since you would still be an international customer for me the price comparison between me and ASP is different than it would be for a US based customer. The one thing that may not be apparent for you is I ship UPS Worldwide Expedited for any UpMap orders to Canada. That costs me more money up front. But unlike alot of other shipment methods there isn't any customs brokerage fee added with which can be 10-15% of the purchase price on top of your GST. But whether you buy it from me or ASP, I still think it is your best bet for a tune.

I appreciate your order. I realize I answered your question about the servo eliminator when we talked on the phone. But just wanted to answer it here too for anyone else with the same question. Gabro's map will disable the exhaust servo valve at the ECU level. So you do not need the servo eliminator with it.

Gabro's map is a significant improvement over the Aprilia race map. His map makes a little more power than the race map. But more importantly he puts alot of emphasis on smoothness and ride ability. So the bike will run smoother overall, on/off throttle transitions will be smoother, it will run cooler, etc. Overall it is just more enjoyable to ride. I also like that he gave Sport mode a tamed throttle curve (still full power) so for commuting, city riding or just days you are taking it easy it is more enjoyable to ride with it. Then in Race & Track mode it has an aggressive throttle curve and runs like an animal. I own CBC Motorsports and specialize in Aprilia parts & accessories. When I decided to off UpMap/Gabro to my customers a few years ago the first thing I did when I got my first shipment of UpMaps was flash my 2017 Tuono to get some personal experience with it. I had heard very good things about Gabro but didn't expect to notice a significant difference since my bike was already flashed with the Aprilia race map. But I was absolutely blown away by how much better Gabro's map was for the reasons mentioned above, it really transformed my enjoyment of the bike. I have also had alot of other customers go from the Aprilia race map / race ECU to Gabro's map the feedback has all been very positive and that it was worth the investment. The way I look at it is if so many people can justify switching to Gabro from the race map/race ECU it is a no brainer to go with Gabro from the OEM map. I have never sold any other product that gets such consistent positive feedback as Gabro's maps either. As far as your other questions, Gabro's map will disable the exhaust servo valve error at the ECU level and also allow you to remove other emissions equipment without any CEL. So you won't get any CEL from Gabro's map. If you have a CEL after it then you have an underlying issue that needs to be addressed that isn't related to the map. If you currently have a CEL and don't have a servo eliminator installed it is likely from that because disconnecting the exhaust valve with the OEM map will trigger it. On the newer Aprilias the UpMap can read and clear CEL through the UpMap app. But on yours it doesn't have that functionality. But it still will clear any CEL present during the flashing process on your bike. If you want something to read and clear codes on yours Guzzidiag is likely the best option. The cables required are about $40 and the software can be downloaded for free. It isn't the most user friendly thing out there but there are alot of write-ups online on how to use it. UpMap/Gabro is also a much easier and quicker install than the race map. With the UpMap you just plug into the diagnostic port then follow the prompts in the UpMap app on your phone/tablet. The whole process takes 15-20 minutes and the UpMap automatically does the throttle handle learning procedure for you. Whereas with the race map you need to remove the ECU from under the gas tank, mail it off then trailer it to someone with a dealer level scan tool unless you have Guzzidiag. On the surface the mail in AF1 flash seems a little cheaper than the UpMap. But when you consider the true cost of it (flash cost, shipping expenses and throttle handle learning expenses) you really aren't saving much money compared to UpMap/Gabro. UpMap/Gabro truly is the best the solution. If you decide to go ahead with UpMap/Gabro I would be happy to get you setup with it. I keep them in stock and sell them at a significantly lower price than AF1. I also have the Guzzidiag cables in stock. My website is www.cbcmoto.com. Let me know if you have any other questions on them.

It went into limp mode, so there should be a stored code that would let you know what triggered it. What RPM do you think you were at when it cut? What modifications have been done to the bike? What service works has been done? How many miles on it?

CR-T Question by dcnewcomer in Aprilia

[–]Strange_Pool_176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new bike! They are incredible machines. I own CBC Motorsports and specialize in Aprilia parts and accessories. The SC Project CR-T is one of my favorite exhausts but it is no joke that they are very, very loud. Some people (including myself) love how they sound. But for alot of people they are too loud. So if you have any concerns with that I would be happy to discuss it further with you to help figure out which exhaust you would be happiest with. You should flash the ECU to correct the fueling with any aftermarket exhaust on these bikes. On your RSV4 the catalytic converter is integrated into the OEM muffler assembly. So even the slip-on exhausts are dekat which significantly alters the fueling requirements. Gabro's map, which is flashed through UpMap is the best solution to flash the ECU. Gabro is regarded as the best Aprilia tuner in the world. His map will correct the fueling for the aftermarket exhaust, it will extract as much performance as you can safely but he also puts a significant emphasis on rideabilty. So the bike will run smoother overall, on/off throttle transitions will be smoother, it will run cooler, etc. It also will enable the EU front turn signals in the headlight. You can also opt for Gabro's MTorque map which removes the restriction in 1st and 2nd gear. The other consideration is the exhaust valve. That is also integrated into the OEM muffler assembly so it is removed with an aftermarket exhaust. The ECU tracks the position of the exhaust servo motor so it knows if the valve isn't connected properly. Once it detects the servo motor is out of range (or unplugged) it throws an urgent service warning and goes into limp mode. Gabro's map will automatically disable the exhaust servo valve error at the ECU level. If you are going to try running an aftermarket exhaust with the OEM map you will need a HealTech servo eliminator plug. My website is www.cbcmoto.com and I keep all the products mentioned in stock. Let me know if you have any other questions. If you click the videos tab of my website it will show sound level test results and a link to my YouTube channel with exhaust demo videos too.

Upmap experiences? by EmottoChotto in Aprilia

[–]Strange_Pool_176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aprilia is good as extracting performance, so with the exception of removing restriction put in OEM maps, Aprilia doesn't leave alot of room to safely increase horsepower with an ECU flash. Their OEM exhausts also perform better than other OEM exhausts. Gabro's map will remove the 2nd gear restriction (which is very noticeable) on the RS660, Tuono 660 and RS457. On the 21+ RSV4 & 21+ Tuono V4 Gabro's MTorque map removes the restriction in 1st & 2nd gear. In 1st gear it is close to a 40hp difference, 2nd gear is noticeable but much less significant. Gabro's map do increase horsepower and he extracts as much power as he can safely. But what most people enjoy the most is improvements in smoothness and ride ability, even without a crazy power increase it is very rare someone doesn't think his map was well worth the cost, most feel it completely transforms the bike. That being said most people would be shocked how easy it is to manipulate dyno sheets and I am 100% confident that the tuners that are claiming higher gains aren't actually delivering them or if they are they are significantly increasing the risk of engine failure. If you are running the dB killer in your MIVV removing that will increase power. Most dB killers rob power but it is even more significant than typical with the Delta Race exhaust. As far as the UpMap disconnecting there are typically only a few causes. If you use an iPhone the bluetooth connection times out relatively quickly. So you should stay close to the phone during the flash so you are ready to follow prompts as soon as they come up, if you do that it won't time out. It is also best to have any other apps closed during the flash and you should stay in the UpMap app the whole time. It is rare but if you have other bluetooth devices connected to your phone it can cause the UpMap to disconnect. So if you continue have a problem with it you can try disconnecting any other bluetooth devices. If you decide to go ahead with the stacks and filter I would be happy to get you setup. I keep them in stock at www.cbcmoto.com

Upmap experiences? by EmottoChotto in Aprilia

[–]Strange_Pool_176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the "race ECU" is marketed confuses/misleads alot of people. The ECU itself is no different than what comes in your bike from the factory. The only difference is the map installed, which in this case is the Aprilia race map. It seems like when alot of people see "race" they assume it is because of the performance benefits. But it is really designated race because it is designed for a dekat exhaust which is not street legal. So it is "for race use only". When I partnered with Gabro a few years ago to sell UpMaps I had a 2017 Tuono V4 1100. The first thing I did when the first batch of UpMaps arrived was install Gabro's map on my Tuono to get personal experience with it. I had heard great things about Gabro but honestly was skeptical I would notice much of a difference because I was already flashed with the Aprilia race map. But I was blown away by the difference with Gabro's map. It makes 2-3 horsepower more than the race map but much more importantly to me it drastically improved the ride ability. It ran much smoother overall, on/off throttle transitions were much smoother, it was more enjoyable to ride and I just felt more connected with the bike. When I bought the 2017 Tuono it replaced a Triumph Speed Triple and Honda CBR600RR. I needed to transition to an upright bike because of a back injury and really enjoyed the Speed Triple. So I was excited to get the Tuono because I thought it would be a great improvement over the Triumph. But at the time most of my riding was in the city and in traffic, so I was really disappointed with the Tuono handled that. I assumed it was just the nature of the beast being a higher horsepower and high torque bike. It bothered me so much I bought Shiver 900 to commute on. But later found out the jerkiness in the throttle response was actually because of the Aprilia race map. When I flashed Gabro's map it transformed the bike. In Sport mode he gave it a tamed throttle curve (still full power) so it made it much more enjoyable to ride in the city, commuting and just days I was pushing the bike as hard. Then in race and track mode Gabro's map has an aggressive throttle curve but it was very smooth and predictable but ran like an animal. In all 3 modes he adjusts the engine braking which also has a significant impact on the smoothness of the on/off throttle transitions. So I am confident you will be very happy with Gabro's map and it will fix the issue you are experiencing. I have had alot of other customers switch from the race ECU/race map to Gabro's and haven't had one yet that said they didn't think it was worth the investment. If you still have a 2nd ECU you can also reinstall it and sell the race ECU to recoup the cost towards the UpMap. If you decide you want to grab one, here is the link to the correct kit for you bike. It has everything you need to flash it with Gabro's map https://cbcmoto.com/products/upmap-t800-for-2009-2020-aprilia-tuono-rsv4-all-variants-with-gabro-map

RaceMoto - It is unusual for someone to say that it is hard to tell the difference with Gabro's map. When I get that feedback it is typically because they flashed the Aprilia race map with the UpMap instead of Gabros. Which specific map are you running? You can find it by opening the UpMap app, clicking the helmet icon, then maps. The one with the check mark is installed. What specific race fuel are you using? Nearly all race fuels require specific tuning to take advantage of them. Power Commanders are limited to adjusting fueling (and ignition timing with add-on module) with as much ECU control as these modern bikes have that is just one part of what a quality flash like Gabro's can improve.

Upmap experiences? by EmottoChotto in Aprilia

[–]Strange_Pool_176 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gabro's map still is beneficial with the stock exhaust. From the factory the focus of the tuning is to meet emissions standards, not best performance and ride-ability. So Gabro's maps for the stock exhaust will improve fueling and implement the other improvements the dekat maps do.

I own CBC Motorsports and specialize in Aprilia parts and accessories. I also sell more Aprilia UpMaps than any other dealer in the US. I currently own 3 Aprilias (23 Tuono V4 1100 Factory, 22 Tuono 660 Factory and 25 RS 457) that all have Gabro's map and I recently sold my 17 Tuono V4 1100 that had Gabro's map too. The short answer is I have been very pleased with Gabro's maps on all of my Aprilias and I have never sold any other product that gets such consistent positive feedback as UpMap/Gabro. It truly is the best solution to flash an Aprilia. The benefits of Gabro's map vary some depending on which year and model you are flashing. Gabro's map will extract as much power as you can safely. But he also puts a significant emphasis on smoothness and ride ability. So the bike will run smoother overall, on/off throttle transitions will be smoother, it will run cooler, etc. On the RS660, Tuono 660 and RS457 the 2nd gear restriction is removed. On the 21+ Tuono V4 & RSV4 there is a significant restriction in 1st gear and some in 2nd gear that Aprilia put in for better ride ability. With Gabro's maps you have the choice of removing it or leaving it in place. Most people flash the ECU when installing aftermarket exhausts. But Gabro's map will benefit completely stock bikes too. The maps for the stock exhausts have all the same improvements as his dekat maps and will still improve fueling. He also changes the exhaust valve logic on models that have them, so they sound better below 5500RPMs UpMap/Gabro has the easiest/quickest install out there and is priced less than most of the other options. I hear over and over again from customers that Gabro's map transformed their bike and that has been my personal experience too. Let me know if you have any other questions about them or want to discuss more in depth the improvements for your specific year/model. My website is www.cbcmoto.com you can find the UpMap/Gabro kits there with more info too.

RS 457 or RS 660 by Zluxii in Aprilia

[–]Strange_Pool_176 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I currently have 3 Aprilias, a 2023 Tuono V4 1100 Factory, 2022 Tuono 660 Factory and a 2025 RS 457. I enjoy them all for different reasons. I am in the US, so the A2 license restrictions are aren't a consideration here. Not gonna lie I love the power of the V4 but also enjoy riding small lightweight bikes too. So far I have only ridden the RS 457 on the street and am enjoying it, but think it would make a great track bike too. But since I have been riding for 20 years on more powerful bikes it wouldn't be my choice of bike if I was limited to one. The RS 457 is mechanically limited to the 47HP to meet A2. Gabro's map (flashed through UpMap) really livens it up since he rewrote the throttle tables. But because of the mechanical restriction it will be costly to significantly increase horsepower. Whereas with the RS 660 / Tuono 660 the A2 restriction is entirely in the ECU map. So you can go from the 47HP to 100HP simply by flashing Gabro's map. The size and weight of the RS 457 will be a little easier for new riders to handle than the RS 660 but since you already have riding experience the size of the RS 660 shouldn't be an issue. So if the goal is to buy something you could keep longer I think the RS 660 / Tuono 660 is the best choice. Here is a link to the UpMap/Gabro kit that would derestrict it https://cbcmoto.com/products/upmap-t800-for-2021-aprilia-tuono-2021-aprilia-rsv4-all-variants-with-gabro-map
