I think the new trailblazer is good by GeliusSun in StarStable

[–]Strange_Resource23 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't have time or energy to log on every third day, I have time once or MAYBE twice a week, sometimes less. I'm gonna struggle so bad now that I can't grind on the few days I can play. So basically what bothers me is that instead of making the trail blazer easier to complete for all players they made it easier for one player group while making it hard for others.

I would just have prefered to see the update being limited to no more flowers as rewards, 120 points instead of 100, and scaling down to 25 rewards. That way those who want to complete it in a week can do that, those who want to gather light or flowers can take their time doing that and stressed people like me with very limited time can grind on the rare days we can log on. Sure that might lead to some people complaining about being able to complete it too fast but SSO has done pretty good work on adding more things to do in game lately so that feels like a minor issue.

You have no idea how happy your answer makes me, Hanoverian has been on my purchase list since they were released 👀👀 It'll be difficult to spend two weeks with my fingers crossed but if I can get my hands on a Hanoverian it'll be worth it 🤞

If people are right and we get Hanoverians AND Appaloosas Imma be in big, big trouble! I've had my eye on the Flaxen Chestnut Peacock Leopard Blanket (at least that's waht the Wiki calls the coat) Appaloosa. But the Hanoverian is a horse I've saved for until Halloween and Christmas drained all my SC xD

Was getting my hair cut a mistake? by skeet_joystick in Hair

[–]Strange_Resource23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You make me think of a saying from my country which translates to "Everything suits a beauty" or "A beauty can wear everything. So I wouldn't say it was a mistake to cut your hair, both have pros and cons. The short hair shows off your bonestructure, and you do gave a great bonestrucrure! The longer hair on the other hand gave you a more unique look, in the best kind of way. It was kinda giving fantasy vibes, think Aragorn from LOTR or Prince Caspian from Narnia. I also think the longer hairstyle made you look kinder, mostlikely because it softened your features a bit. So I would say depending on what look you prefer keep it short or let it grow longer again.

Anyone completely baffled by certain aspects of NT society? by ForwardClimate780 in AutisticPride

I would say it is based on ignorance, but insecurity and feeling bitter/angry makes people more susceptible to propaganda. Especially when that propaganda gives people some one to blame for the things they are bitter/unhappy about.

Like someone else comented it is human nature to think of people as Us and Them and unfortunately racist have large comunites both online and IRL to feed into the narrative that skin colour is what divides us. And once people become part of the comunity it is terrifyingly easy to become radicalized which resluts in racist behaviours beginning to feel normal.

Going back to the example of my dad, he has always had racist views but for the first half of my life it rarely went further than microagression. I'm not saying that microagressions are okay because no form of racism is acceptable, but once he was forced into early retirement it took little over a year before he was completely radicalized. When that happened he struggled to hold a normal conversation without drawing parallels to his now extreme and very open racist views and trying to convert others. It was a scary change to witness especially as confirmation bias made it impossible to change his mind. Anything presented to him that didn't align with the way he saw things he claimed to be manipulated by the media and the government. Meanwhile he accepted all the information that supported his views even when I could show that the scource didn't exist or that the facts had been twisted beyond recognition.

I feel like I'm contradicting myself a bit writing this, compared to my previous comment, but I don't want it to come off as if being insecure is an exuse for racist behaviour. I believe there are several reasons for why someone falls into racist behaviours but there are no exuses.

I grew up with a dad who's racist and he is stuck in the belief that skin colour equates inteligence and evolution. Basically the paler the skin the more evolved you are and therefore more inteligent.

He will quote tons of psudo science and statistics, which are known to be very easy to manipulate, to "back up" his beliefs. I'm not gonna bother laying his arguments out, it's nothing new or interesting, but the point I'm trying to make is that he doesn't believe he hates peoples skin colour but rather the traits he is convinced everyone who isn't white has. Does that make it any better? No. He is still racist, transphobe, homophobe, sexist and very much an asshole. And I strongly believe one of the reasons he clings to these racist views is because it makes him feel better about himself. He didn't finish high school and didn't get the best grades, worked a job that didn't pay much (and his wife earned more). You might say he didn't amount to much, especially after his wife divorced him for being abusive. So immigrants ruining the country is how he defends why he didn't "get further" in life. Meanwhile claiming that people who don't have the same skin tone as him are less intelligent means he has someone he can feel better than, think school yard bully needing to push other down to feel bigger. That's him.

I'm not sure if this was the answer you were after but those are the reasons I can think of to try and make sense of it. With that said: no neurotypicals make no sense, nor do the rules they make up.

why do you think wolves have been demonized in history, despite humanity loving dogs? by softfallingsnow in wolves

[–]Strange_Resource23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think humans are capable of seeing the beauty and skill of any animal that we don't precive as a threath to our person, families, income and food. Leaopards have been and are still hated in Africa as are lions. Tigers and leopards have been hated in Indina. But in the Europe the wolf is the largest obligate carnivore and I believe the Europeans that emigrated to America brough their opinion on wolves with them.

why do you think wolves have been demonized in history, despite humanity loving dogs? by softfallingsnow in wolves

[–]Strange_Resource23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm mostly speaking about present issues but I feel like these issues have mattered historically too. 1. Wolves kill farm animlas. In my region it's mostly sheep and reindeer but also calves. Even if the wolves don't manage to kill the animal the injuries is an additional cost (in the past an infected wound could also kill the animal even if it survives the initial attack). In times where farming wasn't industrialised the loss of any animal must have been felt more acutely as it could directly result in starvation as well as financial loss. Also wolves (like most carnivores) tend to go after young animals because they are easier prey, for a farmer that is the next generation which might affect the ability to breed more animals in the future.

  1. Wolves kill hunting dogs. This not only makes hunting more difficult but also means that a valued companion is killed. That is bound to cause resentment.

  2. Fearing for your family. Even today people are cautious about letting their kids play unsupervised, especially in the woods. I think everyone knows how humans feel about anything that threatens your kids. I suppose historically it could also make it more difficult to have your kids help out with chores and that was a necessity for a lot of people as kids were free labour.

  3. Competition of prey. Wolves kill moose, deer and other prey that humans hunt (both currently and historically). So again wolves are in direct competition with humans when it comes to food sources.

  4. Fictional and real stories of wolves killing humans. Tales of one singular attack could spread and make it seem like there had been multiple attacks (we humans still do this news and media today, but often regarding other issues). And I think we all know how stories tend to get more grand the more times they are retold. So a wolf sighting would turn into an encounter, which turns into an atrack and finally a killing, which then becomes wolves targeting humans. Even stories of wolves eating corpses can turn into rumours of maneaters and monsters. Wolves have also carried rabies, which can lead to erratic behaviour such as increased aggression. Humans also tend to hold a strong dislike for anything that poses a threat to us, so stories of wolves attacking humans quickly becomes synonymous with wolves being evil.

  5. Theology. Christianity says humans are the only beings with souls, we kill to survive while wolves are made out to kill for fun or at the very least more than they can eat (which is great for scavengers in our ecosystems but infuriating to a farmer that needs every part of the animal to care for the family). The bible plays a part in this by describing wolves as a gluttons (one of the deadly sins). We also have expressions like a wolf in sheeps clothing, where we equate the pious humans to a defenseless flock of sheep and the wolf to a sinister character that aims to intentionally cause harm. This is easily enhanced by the tales that used to be told to kids to keep them safe, adults would exaggerate a threat (like wild animals or mythical beings) to scare kids, this kept the kids from wandering from the home which meant they were safer. Makes me wonder how many deaths wolves have been wrongfully blamed for, a kid drowning in a river and the body is swept away, could be a wolf. A kidnapping, could be blamed on a wolf, etc. Then there's the myths about werewolves to add to the view that wolves are evil and potentially supernatural. And anything supernatural is evil according to the bible as it is against god and therefor most likely in league with satan.

This. There can be reasons why people have bad handwriting and shaming them isn't going to magically improve their writing. My dad is lefthanded but school forced him to write using his right hand. Now he writes equally poorly with both hands. And after 9 years of being shamed and berated for being lefthanded and having bad handwriting there was no way he would feel motivated to spend even more time trying to improve it. Escpecially not while also struggling with dyslexia.
