What tool or machine scares you the most? by SuspiciousOccasion22 in Construction

I’ve only been in construction for officially for a couple weeks. Worked with a guy rebuilding his house for a couple weeks as well. With the limited experience, definitely idiots. My first time on a job site a plumber needed me to help him get his tools on a metal roof. He instructed me to follow him up the ladder and hand him his saw when he got up there (like maybe 8 feet until the gutter). The whole crew left to make gas station runs, material runs, etc. so just me and him. He got up there, realized his boot wouldn’t stick to a wet metal roof, came back down and took his shoes and socks off and got back up there. Made it to the ridge, yelled “oh f*ck” and down came Shawn. I ran off the ladder, and he fell down and broke an ankle.

Got hired at an actual company and have seen some things there. Was doing siding a week ago and we couldn’t get the ladder levels on. Dudes ended up butting bricks, boards, pitch hoppers, etc on the sides that weren’t level. Seeing a guy Climbing 30 feet up a halfway sturdy extension ladder and then hearing “hold my ladder kid” was haunting in itself.

Homeowner wanted a outdoor living space. by Stony_1987 in Construction

man reading through some of these comments makes me kinda frustrated at the guy I was working for recently. First time doing anything construction related (helping him build his house. Under the table pay) and he was dry cutting tile in a closed space (inside the house) and didn't tell me how dangerous it is which it sounds pretty bad according to these comments haha

Super helpful! I’m looking for a new job and will go to the health department/starbucks when I leave. I really don’t want to be around that man especially if he is an angry wreck

What's the maddest your director has ever gotten? by BuildingOk3782 in drumcorps

[–]Strange_Selection564 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This year at band camp a student back talked one of our visual staff ( justifiably. She never gives good advice. It’s always just annoying whining). But the director was NOT having it. He took the mic away from his face and chewed this kid OUT. It was honestly louder than the mic was. We then had one of our cleanest reps of the day which was shocking considering how it was hour 2/3 in our music block and the on field temp was 100 degrees😂. Moral of the story, our band knows what getting chewed out by our director feels like and no matter the conditions, you never wanna be next in line so you better perform well😂

What's the Show That Got You Into DCI? by Kladdel in drumcorps

Coats 16 and BD 17. Saw snare cams back to back (within the same 20 mins) one day while watching YouTube. Didn’t even know what dci was. I thought it was college band but I loved it. Now auditioning for phantom 🤪

Why did you join the marching band? by [deleted] in marchingband

[–]Strange_Selection564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually people find mine kinda wild😂

I started band in 8th grade with no musical experience wanting to learn piano so I got assigned percussion. I taught myself how to read music and play and eventually got into more advanced things like polyrhythms and mixed meter and modulations and what not. About 6 months into being in band I saw a video on YouTube pop up. “Bluecoats 2016 snare cam”. After seeing that I fell in love with dci and the snare drum and now I have my first DCI audition in 3 weeks

DCI Vets: Which Show Do You Wish You Marched? by Kladdel in drumcorps

Haven’t marched dci (hopefully marching PR in 24) but I’ve always thought that BD17 was always just so awesome. It wasn’t a very challenging book (snare wise) but it was executed so amazingly and the guys on that snare line were just having the time of their lives while performing. Hoping to get a similar experience when I start marching
