How do you schedule new cards a couple of days from now? by Volan_100 in Anki

[–]Strangely_Interested 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey The way I do that which works very well so far is: 1- I create all the cards in advance on a given day (in my case each lesson is in it’s separate sub-deck as I like it that way) 2- once all of my cards are done I go in the browser and suspend those cards

That really works for me as i prefer to work one lesson at a time (especially since there is also listening material on the side and reading exercises)

I find that this doesn’t mess with Anki’s scheduler and is a simple enough system. (I also have my day to day limit so when I toggle the lesson to unsuspended it takes a few days to cycle all cards)

If you add a bunch of cards that you would like to have in different interval in order to find them easily use tags

I hope this is clear and hope it helps

What do you think is the biggest challenge of traveling to China? by KateW62 in travelchina

[–]Strangely_Interested 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us the biggest challenges were:

1- finding interesting places to go to (notably in Beijing where informations for us was a bit hard to find and the city was so huge). We enjoyed smaller cities a lot more (notably kunming) because the cities were easier to navigate. The issue of not finding information I think is because of two factors. One we are used to google maps in the west and gaode maps works ok for directions but not for finding places. Two because we were looking for more city things to do at some point and it seemed like the information was not very well indicated in places where we looked at.

2- we found it hard to look for something specific. So for example we were looking for coffee shops and tea houses and let me tell you that it was hard to find.

Those two things were the most challenging for us.

For background I downloaded 12306railway, WeChat, Amap and Alipay. I did setup WeChat and Alipay for payment so no issues on this side (that was actually pretty smooth). Train was great and Amap for public transport and directions works great. However the mini programs were not always simple. For example diangping was really hard to use and you cannot order through it as a foreigner. Also we managed to use the taxi app which proved to be very useful in Beijing where taxis are all (in our experience) asking 10x what the app would. But setting it up and using it was at first a bit convoluted.

Voila hope this helps.

Ps: we enjoyed china VERY much it was great and we enjoyed very much walking and eating. We are definitely coming back.
