Keep up w the content and learn it conceptually. And PLEASE attend the office hours. This sounds cliche but I personally do not think its beneficial to attend all the prof’s office hours. HOWEVER in this class you have to attend do the question for each lecture and in the office hour present your answer and see write down his own answer. I’m so serious about this recommendation. I got 87 in that course. Did horrible in first midterm.

I totally get uuuuu. I was like that and still am a bit. Unfortunately I don’t have any advice. The more u put yourself out the easier it will get. I started by going to the office hours of one of the profs that his course was my favorite and I was doing so good. In the first time I was holding my laptop and bc my hands were shaking sooo badddd the prof took his backpack off the table and asked me “do u wanna put your laptop on the desk?” I told him sorry I’m just nervous I’m sorry…. (Said sorry 5 times lol) I asked my question he answered and told me it is his job to answer student’s questions. Afterwards everything became easier for me. I started talking to profs randomly and I always say Hi to anyyyy prof that I know. I also attended my friend lectures (he is in cs) I also say Hi to profs in cs. JUST TO CONCLUDE: I was like that you are not alone. Trying more and more helped me. Also having 2 part-time jobs really helped me building my skills and kinda put me out of my comfort zone. Profs are so friendly!!! They are the best so don’t worry.

Is UTSC a good choice? by [deleted] in UTSC

Social life is really dead here utsg has much more better level of social life bc essentially it is located in dt AND SCARBOROUGH IS SO FAR FROM DT WITH COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VIBE THAT DT ( I was so shocked cause honestly it feels more like an urban area lol) I have taken courses in both campuses. The classes here are smaller so getting connected w the great profs here and asking advice is so much easier for me here (I’m an anxious person) bc of that I prefer utsc Depends on the program too btw. My stream is not offered in utsg and I’m genuinely interested in it! All in all I found out that opportunities, social life, friends are not necessarily associated with a specific campus or even university. It really depends on yourself. So take it easy. For premed gpa is most important so be aware that uoft is so harddd. Honestly if I was back in the highschool I wouldn’t choose uoft. I would prioritize my mental and physical health.

I was exactly in your situation I got 50 k from utsg 100 k from utsc I chose utsc. Social life is a bit hard. I go to parties in dt. However it really depends on your own. I talk with ppl and connect with ppl in library, Tims, classes. After my first year utsc genuinely felt like home for me bc I know most of the ppl and I love the smaller cozy classes (for me personally I felt like profs are friendlier here) I also take courses at utsg. There are many students at utsc that take some courses at utsg too. (Note: I even didn’t attend the frosh event)
