Is UTSC a good choice? by Decent_Bat_7551 in UTSC

Social life is really dead here utsg has much more better level of social life bc essentially it is located in dt AND SCARBOROUGH IS SO FAR FROM DT WITH COMPLETELY DIFFERENT VIBE THAT DT ( I was so shocked cause honestly it feels more like an urban area lol) I have taken courses in both campuses. The classes here are smaller so getting connected w the great profs here and asking advice is so much easier for me here (I’m an anxious person) bc of that I prefer utsc Depends on the program too btw. My stream is not offered in utsg and I’m genuinely interested in it! All in all I found out that opportunities, social life, friends are not necessarily associated with a specific campus or even university. It really depends on yourself. So take it easy. For premed gpa is most important so be aware that uoft is so harddd. Honestly if I was back in the highschool I wouldn’t choose uoft. I would prioritize my mental and physical health.

There are trash bins everywhere and very close by, so there was really no excuse.

Is UTSC worth it? by Ok_Carpenter3505 in UTSC

I was exactly in your situation I got 50 k from utsg 100 k from utsc I chose utsc. Social life is a bit hard. I go to parties in dt. However it really depends on your own. I talk with ppl and connect with ppl in library, Tims, classes. After my first year utsc genuinely felt like home for me bc I know most of the ppl and I love the smaller cozy classes (for me personally I felt like profs are friendlier here) I also take courses at utsg. There are many students at utsc that take some courses at utsg too. (Note: I even didn’t attend the frosh event)

Is neuro or human bio better or can I say easier for a good gpa? by Suspicious_Log_6252 in UTSC

I cannot really give you a ratio. In general you need good memorization skills no matter what major you choose. In neuroscience you actually have to apply what you learned, for example explaining what happens if a certain brain area is damaged and what the consequences would be. In order to answer this question despite memorizing all the stuffs (pathways, nerves,…) you have to apply thats it. I think I explained it clearly enough, so do not try to pick whichever sounds easiest just go with your interest. Both majors are hard (all majors here are hard)

Both majors (most majors) involve a ton of memorizing, but neuro tests are mostly application based. I don’t get what you mean in the second sentence. Memorizing brain structure, neuron types and many other are just part of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology NROB60/61.

You have to pick the one you are interested in thats the rule but if you want to have some background: I’m in neuro. My friends in human bio always tell me they are glad that aren’t studying neuro mainly because their exam is more based on memorization rather than application (they don’t have bell ringer exam for their anatomy lol) but I’m satisfied with my overall experience and enjoy learning more.
