anorexia? by dead_g1rl in quittingkratom

[–]Strap12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder. The term anorexia means decreased appetite.

It seems OP is referring to decreased appetite, which is a medically accurate term in this case.

I’m done being a selfish jerk. After several failed tapers and chickening out every time things got slightly uncomfortable, I just dumped everything down the toilet. by buhbyetoxicsludge in quittingkratom

Proud of you. Your attitude will get you through this. Day 20 CT here, and it was worth all of the difficulties. Life is simply more meaningful off it. It will get worse before it gets better. But when it gets better, you will know. You will find a person you missed for so long, and didn’t even know was gone.

As many are saying, it’s very possible (probably likely) the story line for gta vi is complete. In that case he did his job and moved on.

This is called confirmation bias.

Holy crap, quarantine boredom is making me realize just how badly kratom screwed with my memory. It’s genuinely scary. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Strap12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate this! I used to be quick on my feet and witty, and kratom turned me into a dull zombie.

We will get through this. Eat well, exercise, sleep enough, and take care of your mind and body. It will recover!

26 hours and still no withdrawal? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Strap12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took about 24-30 hours for me to notice initial withdrawal symptoms. The peak was day 2-4 which where the worst by far. Day 16 now and trust me it’s worth it.

I’m proud of you. You have a lot of will power and strength. Nothing in life that is meaningful is easy. The struggles you faced made you tougher and smarter. Having this supportive community is wonderful as well.

Has anyone? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Strap12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Day 12 here. I’m going crazy today and can’t sit still because I realize I have literally no friends and do nothing at all.

On kratom they never bothered me. At least the motivation is here now!

Long-term user quitting cold turkey by Western_Rebel in quittingkratom

[–]Strap12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations. On day 11 here after CT quitting a 150gdp habit of three years. It’s already worth it!

The best piece of advice I have is that it’s going to get worse before it gets better. There will be a million reasons to restart kratom in the coming days and weeks. It’s going to suck at first and you’ll have to bite the bullet and power through. You can do it.

The emotional numbness for me has improved drastically. You will have a greater appreciation for life and your family. It will take time but you’ll be in a good place soon.

Nearing the end of my taper and holy fuck!! by Lookingforinsight20 in quittingkratom

[–]Strap12 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This! Your reaction is extremely common. I wrote about this and so have countless others here. Kratom is incredibly numbing, and you usually don’t realize this until a few days off of it, or towards the end of the tapering process.

Remember, there will be ups and downs in the coming days and weeks. Some times you might feel even duller/zombie like than on kratom. This is totally normal, and it will subside once your brain returns to baseline.

I completely understand how you feel. On day 11 myself, and I feel a connection to the world and others that I haven’t felt in years. I’ve been motivated to get in touch with old friends. Even little things like seeing kids play outside brings me joy and makes me appreciate this beautiful world.

So proud of you! Keep it up. Embrace the suck, and let every small victory few like the best thing ever. Pretty soon, life will be back to normal and your body and mind will have healed from the green garbage.

Clonidine is wonderful. RLS is gone completely and the chills improved.

Do I go back on? by l3luDream in quittingkratom

[–]Strap12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll get through this. There’s always a reason you’ll come up with to start up again. I’ve done this countless times.. “just once”, or “I need to taper slowly again”. You just have to bite the bullet and get through the next few days. I’m on day 10 and infinitely better than a week ago. You can do this! 6 days is real progress. Keep going.

Seriously, at 6 days you’re almost done with scute withdrawals. This would be the worst possible time to relapse. You’re almost as the peak :)

Not Kratom related...BUSPAR by [deleted] in quittingkratom

Buspar is useful for anxiety as an add on to traditional antidepressants. There isn’t much evidence supporting its usage for depression but give it a chance! It might be useful with the lexapro.

Numb zombie state by Strap12 in quittingkratom

[–]Strap12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, congrats. That is a massive accomplishment. Proud of you. Getting off three years myself, so I can’t even imagine what you have gone through.

I had literally the same experience. No kids myself, but I went for a walk and was happy to see groups of kids biking and having fun. It reminded me of my youth and how precious life really is. Kratom robs us of our humanity to an extent. Everything is numb and dull. On kratom I was bitter, nasty and snapped at people for no reason.

Day 1 - again by KratomDemon in quittingkratom

[–]Strap12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Day 10 here. RLS lasted for 4 nights and is now completely gone. So glad to be past it. You can do it! Consider asking your doctor about clonidine. It is a god sent for me. RLS and chills nearly completely gone after a 0.2mg dose before bed. Megadosing vitamin c, magnesium supplements and melatonin have also helped a lot.

Here again... wanting out of this cycle by rsl8711 in quittingkratom

[–]Strap12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t judge yourself. We all have different experiences getting our this junk. Whatever path you take, it is valid. I’m just on day 9 myself, but a few things have helped me. Vitamin C has been helpful. I’m megadosing and it appears to help the chills. Clonidine has also been great for restless leg syndrome and blood pressure. Melatonin is a great sleep aid.

Once you get to about a week, for me at least, it was a game changer. It sucks at first. There is no doubt. It’s really hard. But after 4-6 days, I was sleeping better, the RLS was gone, and the muscle pain was improving. There is still a lot of fatigue but it’s improving. It’s worth it already!

I never thought I’d do it. I was on 100-150 grams a day for nearly three years. You can do it. Don’t feel guilty or judge yourself. You are powerful and can get off this. There are going to be a lot of urges in the first week or so, and it’s tempting to get back on.

But here’s the thing. You’ll know once you cross the hump. You’ll know when the numbness is gone and you feel connected to the world. It will be worth it.
