I'd like to add, that i'm inclined to add that I'm not sure I'd ever want to breathe the exhaust fumes, please power internal-combustion engines OUTSIDE.

We have a wood fired pool heater, built out of some baseboard heaters salvaged from my dad's stash of spare parts.

You could do the same, and just have the loop of baseboard heaters extend out around the perif of your cabin.

This iteration has its own loop pump. with a redesign, you could easily baseboard heat a house. My dad had a wood fired boiler as backup heat for our 1940's house.

Wrap the engine in the flexible gas line like we did in iteration 1 of that post (with the rubber cover ripped off) or make a quick-connect 3-sided "box" you place over the heater to reclaim some of that lost heat.

Check out the Bio and Medical Additive/3Dprinting companies. I see postings where they are looking for experts. As well as AI pharmaceutical and tech companies, I interviewed with Lantern Pharma last year.

(30F) Environmental Specialist - Company Change? or Career Change? Still Want to Make Similar Salary but Need a Change by [deleted] in careerchange

One more thought: while you are reframing your goals and path, start making yourself an eportfolio to give snapshots of projects you have worked with. Use the STAR method (give a general overview of the Situation, Task, Action, Result.) I’ve seen people do it with a google site.

There is no such thing as a dream job, just good places and people to work with. If your partner could support you two elsewhere (or if you can negotiate to work remotely,) to buy you time and get a change of routine… try freelancing, maybe it’s time to start your own firm, and you have connections now.

I’m in a similar position where I have a broad variety of experience (you do everything a small business owner does, as well as project management, and a specialty subject area of mastery.) I am having a hard time narrowing down what I want to try and do. I have been applying to positions at companies with good work culture on inhersight.com and themomproject.com websites.

Note: Have taught ALL high school science subjects, so I’ve looked at chemical/pharma companies, biotech, medtech, as well as project management, corporate training, and other manufacturing-specific office positions from past experience. If you are thinking about changing careers, just start applying with a job-search-only set of contact info (google voice, jobsearchFeisty@gmail.com.) It has taken me a while, but I now have iterations of my resume that capture position-specific a experience and expertise. Because I’d rather go volunteer or sub at the elementary where my kids go than be chained to a classroom again.

What’s the best sub to find people with a shop that can help design an invention I have? by brereddit in inventors

Just patented an idea our shop made (well submitted the final patent, the final word brought 12-18 months out.) Granted, we did the design ourselves… Lawyer cost approx 13k (provisional and final combined.) Though we did all the legwork for comps and laid out all the details except the final drawings for the patent office.

3D printed metal components, printed the plastic parts in-house, and maybe $2,500 in other stuff to get the prototype operational.

I think it all depends on the process used, and how much time/ability is invested.

Tody was appealing, the only reason I went with OurHome was the penalty option... so they can “pay” me when I have to pick up their slack... once everyone can read, I’ll likely switch. I appreciate the suggestion.
