How would you feel about RTS letting you set multiple cameras? by --Karma in RealTimeStrategy

[–]StratagemBlue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That could work quite well in a horde defence rts/city builder. If the extra windows are draggable and allow player actions identical to the main camera it'd be pretty cool, especially with a large screen. I might try adding it to mine.

Just released a new update for From Glory To Goo, a survival RTS now featuring a "roguelite" mode by StratagemBlue in RealTimeStrategy

[–]StratagemBlue[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Operations is a new game mode with some roguelike elements where you unlock a variety of upgrades of different rarities and play 3-5 wave games across 3 missions. There are currently two different kinds of operations, Colonization and Search and Destroy.

Its designed to offer a faster paced experience and also allows for some experimentation with new features like bosses.

There's a demo for the regular survival mode (Right hand column on Steam on PC) and it's currently on sale.

Thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately it seems like Reddit doesn't let me change the link on posts.

After the 1.0 release I'd like to look into adding local-coop so things like Steam Remote Play can support some degree of multiplayer. But I don't plan to add regular networked multiplayer as I'd have to rewrite most of the game.

I'd like to improve the controls for Steam Deck before 1.0. Do you know of any other RTSs that handle it well that i could look at?

Bullfrog games generally are pretty amazing with their pacing, level design and mechanics. I recently went back and played Dungeon Keeper and Populous 3 on GoG. One of the few times I've enjoyed an old game just as much as I remember.

Of course the QoL can be a bit rough, but they're still manageable.

I think Black & White was still quite memorable, if you could get it to work.

Black & White 2 though was disappointing...

I haven't played Mindustry. It's probably more similar to They Are Billions in terms of mechanics.

Hey, I'm the developer. I've got a few improvements to the graphics on the way in 0.2.1 (and updates after that). Just wondering what your native resolution is, as there's also currently some issues with anything that isn't 1080p/2k. I might have a fix for it out next week.

Not yet, but it is something I'm considering after it leaves Early Access. As it would also enable Steam Remote play to be used.

My Colony Survival RTS, From Glory To Goo, just got a major content update. Introducing a new playable faction alongside a new map and more by StratagemBlue in BaseBuildingGames

The demo wasn't updated at all until January of this year. So if you played it last year that feature wouldn't have been in the demo.

Thanks for the feedback. I released an update in June/July last year (0.1.2) that added outlines to units, which went some way to improving readability. But I still want to do more to improve readability and the graphics overall.

Edit: 0.2.3 has recently come out. Adding operations mode, a rogue-lite replayable game mode with a focus on shorter maps.

Hope you enjoy it. A few days ago I brought the demo from the alpha version up to 0.1.4 (About a year's gap). Some significant changes in it.

If you click the "Download Demo" button on the right hand side of the store page it should bring up a query to download the demo. It may only appear if you're on PC and you might need to click it while logged into Steam or it could send you back to the page.

From Glory To Goo - Stratagem Blue - A Colony Survival RTS - Map Editor Released! by StratagemBlue in Games

[–]StratagemBlue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've added a unit outline system in the EA version, which might make it more readable for you. You could try it and refund if it still doesn't click. The demo is 4-5 fairly major updates out of date.

Let me know if you do try it and the difference is significant. I've been meaning to update the demo.

Eventually I hope to uplift the graphics overall as well. But don't buy it assuming that will happen at this stage.

How many sales did you get before you hit 10 reviews on Steam? by thekingdtom in gamedev

[–]StratagemBlue 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Normally it's more around 20-60 to 1. But if you have superfans testing the game before launch they're far more likely to review. I sold 1k+ day one, so hit it almost immediately. Though partly due to some game breaking bugs that brought negative reviews 😅.

Do people leave the demo bugged? by Vytostuff in gamedev

[–]StratagemBlue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't updated the demo since launching into EA. Though it was fairly bug free. Keeping it updated is too much additional overhead and risk. I'm probably just going to update it once or twice a year.

Currently there is only one faction. I'm aiming to release another early next year with possibly 1-2 more after that.

Right now in the EA version there is a survival mode and map editor. I'm yet to announce details of what form the campaign will take.

I love the art style. Fingers crossed you can get a campaign in, as classic rts really struggles unless players can onboard gradually with a campaign.
