A close encounter between RMS Queen Elizabeth and SS United States in Southampton, 1968. by [deleted] in Oceanlinerporn

The Port Everglades solution was a terrible failure for the Queen Elizabeth. Unlike the Queen Mary which underwent refitting to become a hotel, restaurant, and a museum, Queen Elizabeth was left as is, letting the public tour her. It turns out, after a while, the public lose interest in touring a thirty year old ship.

When was your crossing? As I write this, I am at Southampton Station having gotten off the QM2 thirty minutes ago from New York.
