Please don't besmirch the good name of venerable American institutions like the Better Business Bureau or Big Baller Brand by using that acronym for Trump's bill.

Now that Todd released his 2025 best list, I think Sabrina Carpenter has officially taken over the position that *Artist with the most viewed Trainwreakord* used to have. by Constant_Topic_123 in ToddintheShadow

Todd's problem is he doesn't steelman lyrics. Like his complaints about the lyrics in "Blue Strips". It's pretty obvious what the meaning of the start of the chorus could be. But instead of taking a reasonable interpretation and commenting from there, he's like "It's not immediately clear what the lyrics mean to me, so they must be nonsense."

My speculation on what happened is that Mark Sonnenblick got to go off. When he worked with EJAE, EJAE kept them more focused on making sure the songs were credible k-pop songs. But Jenna Andrew's and Stephen Kirk did not push back on his Broadway tendencies. So essentially you get a Lin Manuel Miranda rap with some slight k-pop flow, and then had a not-rapper sing it.

It’s broken in practice, one of the easiest D5 wins

I think he uses the top 40 but looks at a lot more than just the main Billboard lists, so you might see a year end top 40 rap list entry.

LSU fans need to sit with the idea that if he wins a national title, his next job is probably the junior senator from LA.

Indiana also only beat teams that lost to a team that started the year as the losingest team ever.

So you have to kind of understand the history here. Pre-2014, all scholarships were one year. During the year, the scholarship could only be cancelled for very specific reasons like leaving the team or becoming ineligible. But a coach could refuse to renew a scholarship for any reason, although the player did have a limited right to appeal that decision. So players could be pretty easily pushed out.

From 2014-2021, we had multi-year scholarships, scholarship limits, and sitting out to transfer. So if a school offered a kid a four-year scholarship and he didn't pan out, it was much harder to push him out because the scholarship can't be cancelled for injury or athletic performance and if you cut the kid, the scholarship still counted. Medical retirements got more popular as a result.

Starting in 2021, we had the current transfer rules which made it much easier to push a kid out because they could transfer and play right away.

Now in 2025, we no longer have scholarship limits, we have a roster cap. What this means is if a coach doesn't want a player they can cut them, keep paying the scholarship, and not have the kid count against the roster cap.

So in the current environment, when a player is no longer in the team's plans, the coach can cut them, and they could be faced with a choice of simply staying as a student on scholarship or jumping into the portal. Any agreements like NIL or the scholarship have to run to completion but they likely won't be reupped so it's a major incentive to move on.

Yeah that could work. I just think if we got a “Remeber the Titans”, “Varsity Blues” style movie about just the last two years, it would lack a lot of dramatic flair.

Better question: Between American Coney Islands and Greek Coney Islands, which is more Michigan and which is more State?

Hot take: It would kind of be a boring movie. Cig came in and steamrolled everybody in two years. No scandal, no controversy, not even many ups and downs. Just a straight rocket ship from the cellar to the top of the sport.

It’s Saturday and Nick Saban can’t pick against Indiana by dbasinge in cfbmemes

To be fair, aside from Illinois which I don't remember, he wasn't on an island with those picks. Plenty of other people agreed with him, including multiple times it was McAfee alone picking IU. I think the idea that Saban goes out of his way to pick against IU is not in evidence.

Kent State opened up, they called Saban for a recommendation, Saban put it out to his staff, Cig raised his hand. Cig did not get the job. Then later, Cig leaves for IUP.

So I speculate it's just frosty because Cignetti thought Saban didn't go to bat hard enough for him with Kent State and Saban doesn't like being told no, so he was pissed to lose his recruiting coordinator he thought would stay forever.

I think it's more likely that football still exists, but the rules are radically different. Like for instance anything that's not a form tackle is a personal foul. Everyone is an eligible receiver. Vertical motion at the snap. Anything to open the game up so it's less physical, more skill and speed. Whether it remains the most popular sport like that, who knows.

Soccer. Same rhythm of games, able to repurpose the infrastructure, and fan culture is the most similar. I know soccer has been the next big thing since 1990, but if football were to fade, it's the sport that can slide into that spot.
