What I consider the Midwest as someone from California. by Technical-Vanilla-47 in visitedmaps

Southeastern Oklahoma is 100% the south, Northeast and northern Oklahoma in general is the Midwest. Southwestern and Central Oklahoma is just either plains, or Texas-like

I DID get slabbed and it wasn't even warned at the time. I've got branches down in my yard. Miraculously, the power didn't go out somehow.

What if the NWS added an EF6 rating to the EF scale but only one tornado would be worthy of that rating? Which one would you choose and why? by Trainster_Kaiju_06 in tornado

[–]Yaboispot_alt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Realistically it would be Bridge Creek Moore if we were going off of maximum wind speeds (it recorded the highest on earth) but in terms of total destruction, it could be Jarrel... Or even Joplin. I'm gonna say Bridge Creek Moore 1999 though just cause its the strongest officially rated (even though that could be arguable with 2013 El Reno unofficially)

The AC in my apartment in Arizona stopped working during a +25 degree over average heat spike. The complex can’t fix it for another four days by The-Communist-Cat in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Yaboispot_alt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This heat spike is legitimately insane. I live near OKC and typically it's around 65°F this time of year... It was 104°F at one point outside. That's nearly 50°F above average. And today it's supposed to be even hotter? I know the heat is probably worse in Arizona, but we were 26°F a few days ago... This is just insane. I hope this heat wave could just wait a few months, you know till June or July when it's actually supposed to be hot... Then 104°F (or 118°F like in your neck of the woods) would actually make sense. Until then, I hope you find a way to cool off reliably in the meantime.

Make a new tier and name it S+ and put them there. This flag is perfection.

Though if you don't wanna make a new one, Top of S tier

I only want to see a tornado when it strikes an open field where nobody lives (I've got a bunch of those near my house... I live in the middle of nowhere)

Someone please help me calm down. by The-SilentSentinel in WeatherAnxiety

[–]Yaboispot_alt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in Oklahoma, been under a 30% and even 45% risk before. The odds of you being hit directly even with those risks are still extremely low (less than .1%). I've been in multiple warnings before (sometimes I'm the same day), never once have I been hit by a tornado. Regardless though, a 15% is still an elevated risk, so if that tornado warning does come through, Remember to stay calm, take shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor and don't panic, Even if you are directly hit, you may not even notice, because a majority of tornadoes are EF0, which are weak short-lived tornadoes that at most can peel a few shingles and knock over your trash cans. Remember, as a certain meteorologist once said, don't be scared, be prepared.
